Re: 2023-2024 Roster tracking
He's got another year to use, so it's smart to check out his options. It's entirely possible he (and all of these guys) end up back in BG for another year, too.
I do like the idea of a new coach getting to start fresh and getting his own guys in here to play right away. Seems like that *could* speed up the rebuilding process.

I'd be stunned if Turner returns. You don't usually get honored at Senior Night then return. I'm guessing he wants to see if there are options or he hangs 'em up.mbenecke wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 9:23 amHe's got another year to use, so it's smart to check out his options. As has been said, it makes sense for the entire roster to enter the portal, why not. Goes both ways as I wouldn't be shocked if the new coach doesn't want any of these guys. Most of them I won't shed a tear to see leave anyhow. Let the new coach hit the portal for guys he wants to work with. Maybe he re-recruits one or two of these guys if he likes them.
The entire program needed blown up. Sometimes you will lose a worthwhile player in that (Matheny/Agee would qualify), but it was necessary. The stink of the Huger era needs fumigated.
Re: 2023-2024 Roster tracking
Obviously I'm wrong, but isn't the transfer portal only open for 60 days starting at the conclusion of the NCAA final?

While I agree that it isn't likely he returns, Plowden walked on senior night with Justin Turner and Trey Diggs and then returned for his fifth year, so there is the possibility.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

https://www.ncaa.com/news/ncaa/article/ ... sfer-rulesThe board adopted the following notification-of-transfer windows:
Fall sports: a 45-day window beginning the day after championships selections are made in their sport, or May 1-15.
Reasonable accommodations will be made for participants in the Football Bowl Subdivision and Football Championship Subdivision championship games.
Winter sports: a 60-day window beginning the day after championships selections are made in the sport.
Spring sports: Dec. 1-15, or a 45-day window beginning the day after selections are made in the sport. The legislation also establishes exceptions to the new windows for student-athletes who experience head coach changes or have athletics aid reduced, canceled or not renewed.
Perhaps it's after the NCAA selection show?

Re: 2023-2024 Roster tracking
There is nobody on this roster that is painful to see leave. Any decent coach should be able to replace them with better players immediately. Plowden was the last player we had that looked the part. We don’t have a single player that would start for teams like Toledo, Kent or Akron.

This is exactly right! I hope we retain 5-6 guys but if we don’t so be it.Hammer wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 10:23 pm There is nobody on this roster that is painful to see leave. Nah, Metheny-Agee-Towns-Felt-McCombs-Lightfoot would all be great to see under a new coach.Hammer wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 10:23 pm There is nobody on this roster that is painful to see leave.
