WNIT vs. Liberty (3/16)

Post by mbenecke »

On Thursday, March 16, at 6:00pm, our Falcons (27-6) will host the Liberty Flames (24-8) at the Stroh Center in the first round of the WNIT.

Winner gets the winner of Green Bay vs. Niagara in the second round.

Let’s go on a run here, Falcons!

Really glad they get to host a game. I think there's a good chance they would host the second round game, too, depending on how attendance is for Round 1. Liberty is a solid team that beat us last season. Hope we can get revenge on Thursday!

GO FALCONS!!! I'd be down with hanging a WNIT banner in our gym. Go for it...

Also, it was good to see Kent State and Ball State get WNIT bids....although Kent St got blown out by Syracuse. Ball State with a winnable matchup vs Belmont.

Seems like a decent crowd tonight at the Stroh.

BG off to a solid start, but the missed layups are maddening. Definitely something we need to clean up to take the next step.

ESPN3 stopped working for me so I haven’t been watching while figuring that out, but BG is up 30-10 after the first quarter.

BG wins 87-80.

After the first quarter, it was a really tough battle. Glad we hung on for the win!

28-6 on the season now, and we’re advancing to the next round of the WNIT.

Green Bay is annihilating Niagara so it looks like they will be our next opponent. I have a faint memory of us losing to Green Bay in the WNIT once a long time ago? Could be making that up. They have an incredible program, though.

Today's win by Green Bay was their first in the WNIT according to their ESPN announcers. It will be an interesting, but tough matchup between the two teams with the best overall records in the WNIT field.

Ah, okay must have been a regular season game.

Green Bay is a team that should have been a tourney at-large (I'd argue BG is, too), so this will be a really tough game. Interesting note; If BG wins, they would play the winner of Memphis and Ball State. Potential MAC semi-final re-match.

Crazy that a potential fourth game against Ball State. But man, Green Bay is REALLY good.
