It's gotta be a one time thing, right? Yeah, no. I see him two weeks later, same thing happens.

I'm a mid-level Falcon Club donor but these interactions have me looking to up my donation for next year.
That is how it once was in BG - friendly. They didn’t know Frack, Stroh or Schmidthorst would be able to do much more than buy season tickets and join the Falcon Club but they treated them well and made them a part of BG. Midwest BG friendliness has been missing for a long stretch but appears to be returning. About time!

It’s good to hear you’ve had this experience. It’s certainly an encouraging sign.

Finally got a chance to listen to the presser when Coach Simon was hired. Damn, this guy is impressive.

Some details on Simon's contract:

Expires 3/31/2028, $450K base salary with plenty of incentive bonuses. $425K assistant coach pool this year, $450K next year and beyond. BG is paying the $50K buyout to SUU. If Simon leaves before 3/31/2024, he owes BG 100% of the remaining base salary on his deal. Drops to 50% in 2025 and 25% in 2026.

Curious what the incentive bonuses are. Have to imagine they could significantly increase his pay. I thought his base would be $500K.

Any word on Assistants yet…somebody’s gotta be helping him on recruiting,…I would assume.

I read an article the other day that basically said Lourawls Nairn is coming with him from Southern Utah. He played at Michigan State and was an assistant on Todd’s staff this year.

Also saw this. I assumed he would be coming and will likely be in the Assoc. HC position. A true up-and-comer who is young (28-29, I think?) and is known for his recruiting. I hope his other assistant is someone who has more direct Midwest ties. Tum Tum Nairn went to school here but has never coached in this region.

Conference wins, regular season MAC title, MAC tournament championship, NCAA/NIT tournament bid/wins, with the zenith being $100K for winning an NCAA championship.

This probably sounds fiscally irresponsible, but why not offer to give him a bonus of his entire salary if he wins the NCAA championship? With the money we would bring in from the tournament alone, plus all of the benefits of winning the title, you would think we could hand him a bonus of $450K for doing that, if not more.

That's a great point. Hell, they should say we will build a statue of him made out of solid gold if he won it all.

Shoot...making the NCAA's ought to be worth 100k. Around here...that would be like pulling Excalibur from the stone

Don't know what the $$$ figures are on all of those bonuses but the fact remains that winning a single NCAA tournament game (and any subsequent wins) will do more for BGSU than anything any other coach has any hope of accomplishing at this Athletics Department. Just look at how we all know the face and words of the FDU coach...his quotes and actions will live forever and will almost certainly be his catalyst to a better job if he has another year or two of success.

I don't live in a world where I realistically think MAC has a snowball's chance in hell of playing a meaningful college football game in January, but even if they did I'd find it tough to believe we could WIN said game which is what would be required to match what FDU (and countless others) pull off every March.
