Offseason 2023
Re: Offseason 2023
Mason Klee (D, RPI) is in the portal, but I suspect he'd like to go to North Dakota, where his brother will be a freshman. Would be nice to get the son of a Falcon tennis player, though.
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.
Re: Offseason 2023
It looks like from the Pairwise Predictor that Northern/Mankato is a winner take all situation now.For as crummy a season it's been for the ccha, there's still a chance to put 3 teams in the national tournament. Northern has to win their way in, and Minnesota State would need some help from the right teams losing. Tech is already a lock since they're so high up in pairwise.
There is no path into the NCAA tournament for MSU with a loss. At best they finish.0002 points behind Alaska which is kind of ironic….. Of course we know what it’s like to finish 1,000ths of a point out of a spot..LOL.

Here's what I have for rosters going forward. I don't have Swankler listed for next year (I don't want to jinx it). Corrections appreciated. As of now, losing 4 D and 7 up front. None of which has been a surprise (well, maybe Collin). 3 spots available for either a late commit or through the portal.

Missing Nick O'Hanisain as a defenseman starting next season.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 12:51 pm

FWIW, Mike McMahon posted in his blog that some surprising underclassmen will be entering the portal on Monday. From the sounds of it there should be some talent available.

Re: Offseason 2023
Updated per pdt. I still have Swankler off the list. The Northeastern fans on USCHA are saying some of their guys are portal bound which ties in with JPs comment.
On defense, with 4 freshmen we probably need some added stability as Parker and Norris can't play 60 minutes. Up front, I'm not sure where the goals are coming from though I do like keeping Pfoh/Grant/Emerson together so we could probably use some portal help there too.

I'm concerned that O'Hara needs Swankler to set him up.

Re: Offseason 2023
Going to need to be a team that will have to work hard defensively to limit goals against. On paper, that roster isn't going to get it done in the goal scoring department. Eigner's future is going to rest on how well he can recruit the portal, what kind of talent they bring in, and how quickly everyone can mesh

One of Miami State's better players, Joe Cassetti, is in the portal with fifth year of eligibility remaining. He was 10/5/15 last year and played part of his freshman year at Merrimack.

Seriously?? I haven't seen that one come across yet. That is HUGE on multiple fronts. He's arguably their best player.mbenecke wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 9:52 amRed Savage, too. Ivy League programs don't allow for graduate students to play athletics. High water six goals in 2021-22. Meh.
