Hempfling went after that player but stopped. Probably good. She would have been suspended from the next game.
Did you see Tate as well? Memphis would want NO part of her!

BGSU police investigating, per Strack. Another person tweeted they saw Shutes being arrested, but that person has one follower so I’m not buying that just yet.
"BGSU does not comment on ongoing investigations" is a polite way of saying "we'd like to forget about this, please stop asking about it."

Yep administrators are responsible for the programs that they oversee.
I just can't resist any reason to use that photo. I actually heard great things about Lauren from my friends in the athletics industry, but Memphis basketball does seem like kind of a garbage fire overall. Men's team collapsed in the tournament while arguing with each other, women's team got in TWO altercations during the WNIT. Certainly not great for their image.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.
She hired the Memphis coach from Wright St. basically. I know nothing of her just pointing out the connection and the fact she is the person who oversees that Memphis program.
"The incident that occured following Thursday's women's basketball game was extremely unfortunate and certainly not consistent with, or representative of, our expectations for our programs and student-athletes. Because the incident occured after the game, jurisdiction falls in the hands of local authorities, and we are cooperating fully with their process. To be respectful of that process, we will not comment further until it is complete."

Articles keep mentioning the Memphis getting elbowed in the face early in the game. Anybody found that on video?
It was the play where Shutes got fouled and had to sit for a while. She got hit in the face, and Brett was guarding her, but it wasn't dirty and didn't have to be reviewed. It was a regular basketball foul.

The replay of the game is on ESPN+. It was an inadvertent bop to her eye from Dziekan after she was fouled on a reach in by Brett. Maybe she thought it was Brett who got her? It didn't really look that bad, but I think it maybe scratched her eye or something.

In retrospect, I really hope that it's just dropped and both sides move on. There is a lot of racist vitriol from the ugly side of Twitter attacking Shutes and the Memphis program in general. Have Shutes apologize to Brett and squash it.

100% agree with this. Fox News, TMZ, and the New York Post running with it certainly got things headed in that ugly direction, so I hope they find a way to quickly resolve this and move on.
