WNIT vs. Columbia (3/29)

Post by mbenecke »

Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time in school history, welcome to the Fab Four.

On Wednesday night, our Falcons (31-6) will host Columbia (27-5) at 6:00pm inside the Stroh Center. The game will once again be broadcast on ESPN3. Fans in attendance are being asked to wear orange.

BG is looking for their 5th straight win in this tournament and an appearance in Saturday’s championship game. The Falcons are also looking to pass the 2006-2007 BG WBB program record of 31 wins in a single season.

A ton on the line, and this game is happening on fairly short notice. Gonna be a battle, and we have to be up to the task.

Let’s go Falcons!

Worried about the quick turnaround. Columbia having that extra day could make a huge difference at this point in the year. I hope those two days are enough for Hampton to get back. It looked like she was walking pretty well without a boot tonight and that would be huge for our depth.

Columbia comes in at 27-5...another TOUGH team. They beat Memphis this year in Memphis and the U in Coral Gables. And beat Syracuse in the WNIT. This will be another all out battle.

Jocelyn Tate and Nicole Stephens (Columbia) are Pickerington Central grads.
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

Columbia has to travel on shorter notice from New York. Advantage Falcons. Also, this is the first NIT road game for them. Advantage Falcons.

They also have a starter from near Sydney, Australia. Elissa is from Adelaide.

Absolutely. For the women and the men both. And even volleyball!

You can tell this fanbase has been electrified. What an incredible run BG has had the past few weeks.

Not sure if this link works but looks like there are 14 chairback seats left. Lot of gray sections and even general admission isn't the highest seating availability left

DVDM says we are on pace to have a larger crowd than last night.

3400 tickets already bought, including more than 700 student tickets claimed.

Seems like we’ll be in for another great atmosphere tomorrow night.

WOW those are incredible numbers for this quick turnaround. Just goes to show that this is a fanbase starving for winning teams. Also, massive credit to DVDM on rallying the troops. Moose never came close to being this enthusiastic and involved with the community. Loeffler and Tomic have also really stepped up. I may not love Loeffler as a coach, but he really seems to love BG and he gets his staff and players to show up and support the other programs.

The game is officially sold out for tomorrow night!

More than 1200 student tickets were claimed, and more than 4300 tickets sold. Amazing stuff - we’re at like 21 hours since the game ended last night.

Not sure if it's still decided through a bidding process at this point, but have to imagine that's a damn good ROI when you're probably getting $50k+ in ticket revenue plus concessions and parking. It also looks really good on TV. Will be curious what kind of turnout Kansas gets at Allen Fieldhouse. They got about 5,000 at their last game, but that's in a 14,000 seat arena. If we are able to make it past Columbia, I have to think the look of a raucous sell-out crowd will be appealing to the WNIT officials.
