Question: It is widely viewed as advantageous to NCAA Tournament hopes to play in a conference, due to the automatic bids or the possibility of earning a bid via conference tournaments. Canisius earned a bid as the No. 41 team in the PairWise rankings by winning the Atlantic Hockey Conference tournament, and No. 25 Colgate earned a bid by winning the ECAC tournament. Is there anything new you can tell Sun Devils fans about the program’s efforts to join a conference and that timeline?

John Buccigross is reporting that Mankato HC Mike Hastings is leaving to take the Wisconsin job. We’ll see if it gets confirmed, but that would be potentially huge news for the CCHA.

EDIT: Wisconsin just announced Hastings as their next HC. Huge swing from the Badgers.

I have to assume Mankato promotes Todd Knott from within, but we’ll see. Definitely a huge story.

With BGSU One Day winding down, I wanted to say how cool it is to see all the hockey alumni giving back to the program. The Hamburgler, Blake and Emerson (and Emerson!!), Fitz, Moose, Natty, and even Coale Norris (and Dalton!) as well as the coaches and a bunch of old timers who played in the 70's (if you're older then me, you're an old timer...sorry). By my count there are nearly 40 people directly associated with the program on the donor list. Once a Falcon, always a Falcon.

Mankato’s stranglehold on the conference just ended. BG has more than enough resources to be a realistic contender on a yearly basis. The 3rd place trophy hasn’t been good enough, and shouldn’t be good enough moving forward. Program has done next to nothing since 1990…no excuses are left, time to step up and win something.
