We have a private sitter for our son. She goes to our church and was a receptionist for a dentist. Decided she wanted to step away from that world and asked if we had a sitter lined up since she did babysitting before she went into the dental field. We've loved every minute of this experience. She watches, on average, 5 kids a day. We pay $135/week. Definitely not going to get rich doing that, but she makes decent enough money that is probably consistent with her previous wages, she saves on gas, and she gets to do something she enjoys. We know her and we know the other families. It makes a huge difference.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 12:39 pmWE have been through like three daycares so soon. Can't wait for the crapshoot of older grades.
Now, the K-12 system in our town...the town Facebook group of busybodies has a huge contingent of people that "don't trust the school" and feel the teachers are all out to get the kids. I know a lot of the teachers personally; it's a good school with good people. I've also met some of the people in that contingent. Yeah, they're the problem, not the school.
