This is some funny s**t...

A poster on the rockette's board says this is a move by South Carolina to use BG as a minor league for them. So apparently Chmiel will get players that are not ready to play yet at South Carolina to come to BG so they can get PT and get seasoned before transferring to South Carolina.

LOL even if that were the case, that would put BG in like, the top 20 every year with how deep the SC team has been.

Sounds like an impressive guy. Interesting. Nyla was at the press conference...didn't see Tate...so that at least seems hopeful that she'll give him a chance to keep her here. She wasn't sitting with the team however. I only recognized Velasco, Sharps, and Fleming. Not sure who the other two were in the front row. Dziekan and Hill perhaps?

I didn’t either! I saw Burwell’s tweet and realized it was her standing behind coach.

Not sure what we will be paying Coach Chmiel, but his salary at USC was $300k, so I have to imagine we've bumped it up from that, which would be higher than Fralick ever made here. Glad to see our athletic department making the financial investment needed to grow.

I liked the look the players gave when a transfer portal question was brought up.

You'll just have to watch, but there were some glances, and Fred even stared over at Nyla when he was saying he was going to work to get people to stay there.

I wasn't stoked on the hire at first, because I really wanted someone with head coaching experience, but I've changed my mind. I think he's a great hire and I think he'll do really good things here.

I noticed it also. It was an eye roll by Sharps. I don't know if it was directed at the players in the portal or the questioner. Probably the latter.

He was a men's head coach at Feather River College in California from 1995 - 1999 and Lassan College from 1999 - 2005 before switching to women's basketball as an assistant for WNBA's Charlotte Sting in 2005 so he does have some head coaching experience.

Interesting note on Coach Chmiel is that he went to the same high school as Cole Magner!
