NMU posted today they are narrowing the width of the sheet at Berry from 100 to 94 feet.

Some fodder - Mike McMahon has Curtis Carr named as a potential candidate for the Bentley head coaching job. He also believes that the NCHC will vote in Arizona State and allow Miami to exit and join the CCHA without having to pay an exit fee. That could happen as early as this week.

Would the CCHA move for Miami be immediate? Or would they have to wait a year?

No idea. I would imagine beginning in 2024-25 since most programs and leagues have their schedules already drawn up for this season.

Miami State already posted their 23-24 schedule so the earliest would be 24-25.

I had assumed so, for that exact reason.

Fascinating. I wonder how happy BG will be internally with the Miami move.

Minimum 2 seasons out, just like when the B1G, NCHC, and CCHA were announced. And the additions of the Tommies and Augustana to the CCHA. I'm not holding my breath on it to happen.

Bentley will have to replace Ryan Soderquist, who stepped down earlier this week as head coach of the men’s hockey program. Bentley’s candidate list could be specific. I’ll explain, and have a list of nine realistic candidates for the Falcons.
Curious as to the "specific" aspect he mentions. Using his previous coaching at Merrimack as reasoning? It would be less surprising if it were one of the eastern Atlantic teams (Canisius, RIT, Bob Mo, etc).

I just can’t wrap my head around them ever bailing. Even with a rumor as juicy as this one staring me in the face. For that university to admit to a failure that large is unfathomable to me.

Also not sure they’d be welcomed with open arms to the CCHA. Probably along the lines of the welcome Augie is receiving.

His blurb about Carr...

Curtis Carr, Bowling Green assistant coach

Carr's resume is what I would call "sneaky good" because you might not realize how strong it actually is. I covered Carr extensively when he was at Merrimack, and his fingerprints are still all over Merrimack's recent rise to the top of Hockey East, along with Scott Borek, Dan Jewell (see below), and Josh Ciocco.

Carr has spent the past few seasons at Bowling Green, and before he came to Merrimack, he was the GM/head coach of the Youngstown Phantoms in the USHL.

I wanted to wait a few days to post this in case something came out of it, but nobody has said anything so I think I am in the clear. Taylor Schneider posted a goodbye message to BGSU on Instagram over the weekend, and it included some… interesting nuggets. I think the bits about the culture at the end are very telling of his opinion of what’s happening right now. I’ve included the script in full for you all to read, in case you aren’t on Instagram:

I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since I arrived at BGSU. It feels like yesterday I came in as a freshman not knowing what to expect and how the experience of college hockey would be. The seniors and the rest of the team took me under their wing and made me feel at home. The best coach I have ever played for was Chris Bergeron, he would say all the time, “Leave this place better than you found it.” I can’t sit here and say I did that, and that’s hard to accept. I feel like I let a lot of people down, including the players that came before me that put this program back on the map with 20+ win seasons. But I can only control what I can control and that is myself and my effort. One thing that is for sure, I gave everything I had to this program. I can look back and say I did everything I could to be the best player I could be for this team. I will forever be grateful for the relationships and friendships I have made from my time at BGSU. There are so many memories on and off the ice that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Being a part of the team that went to the NCAA tournament for the first time in 29 years will be the number one thing I’m most proud of. The bond formed from that team will never be broken. I want to say thank you to the fans. The fans made this place special to play at. Through the good, bad, and ugly, the fans created one of the best atmospheres in the country. There is nothing like a sold-out Slater Family Ice Arena when the loud noise from the crowd reflects off the low metal ceiling and the energy is felt throughout the entire building. With that being said, the fans deserve better. The standard, culture, and values are not the same as they once were. Hopefully things get turned around. Lastly, I want to say thank you to BGSU for giving me the opportunity to play college hockey. It was a fun ride.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement for Ty. It'll be interesting if DVDM provides exit interviews with graduates.

Miami fans are ready to buyout Berge.

Ay Ziggy,
Taylor Schneider #11
I was waiting and wondering if anyone would pick this up as well. This is a major head scratcher for me.
Taylor played for Ty's brother at Lakeville North. Taylor's brother, Spencer, was a freshman for the Falcons this year. The Eigner's and Schneider's, at least up until now, have always seemed very close.
Apparently something has happened relatively recently to elicit this post. So many things don't seem to add up.

Ouch…..guess that could best be described as a “parting shot”.

I’m not around enough any longer to know anything about the culture and what may have changed. I do know that the current staff gets their rears handed to them “in game” by other staffs week after week after week…..and have been for a while now.
