He is 26 or will turn 26 during the season, has had multiple surgeries on his knees, but was also one time an Ivy POY.
He's 25 turning 26 soon I believe.

I also had the thought that since he seems to want to actually PLAY some more college ball before he's done, maybe he could come hang out with us for a year.

On an unrelated note, Josiah Fulcher is headed to North Alabama.

Somehow he might have 2 years of eligibility remaining.

"While next season will be his eighth in college basketball, Towns could have up to two years of eligibility remaining -- depending on how many years he qualified for a medical redshirt. He has played only three total seasons at Harvard and Ohio State, and one was 2020-21, which the NCAA considers to be the COVID-impacted campaign."

I would be a huge fan of it. Worst case scenario you get a super smart experienced veteran kid on the bench. Best case you get a very good basketball player.

He was part of the BLM protests.

He could be the basketball version of Matt McDonald

We just signed Greg Spurgin. He’s originally from Australia. 6’7 forward, should be a redshirt sophomore this year. I’m under the impression that he is Jason Spurgin’s brother.

I'm also under the impression that he is a walk-on. Transferring up from a D-2 program where he didn't play a whole lot.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

Seth Towns.

From Columbus, went to Harvard out of high school in 2016. Played 2 seasons there, averaging 14.2 points per game on 42% from three. Was the Ivy League player of the year as a sophomore. Then he missed his 3rd and 4th seasons there due to injury, but he got his degree. And so, he was able to grad transfer back home to Ohio State. At that time, he was one of the most coveted transfers in the country, even as a big question mark. So he played that 20-21 season at Ohio State, where he tried to break through the rust and adjust to the Big Ten level. He still showed a good shooting stroke, but his minutes weren’t nearly as high as at Harvard. And then he got injured and missed the entire next season in 21-22. And then he decided to retire from basketball this past September, so he didn’t play in 22-23. But now he entered the portal and wants to play again.

Our connection to him is that his brother, Sam Towns, is on our roster. And if he is looking for a soft landing spot that’s right up the road from his native Columbus, where his brother already is, maybe we would take him.

Very weird case, but he’s always been a talented kid. And an extremely bright young man. If he wanted to come here, I would take a flier on him.

They aren't related as far as I know. Towns is former NIU player Leon Rodgers brother

Huh. I just assumed because of the last names and that they are both from Columbus.
