It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Does anybody know if Greg Spurgin is actually on scholarship?
Also, can someone let him know that mullets aren't in style anymore here in the States?

Looks like Towns is headed to Howard.

Unattractive as it is, the mullet is very popular with young guys right now. I think it’s stupid… which is probably why I have a wife. LolBleedOrange wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 4:29 pm Does anybody know if Greg Spurgin is actually on scholarship?

orangeandbrown blog reports that 5'11"G and EMU transfer Joey Zahar has committed to BG. Only played 1 minute at Eastern and has underwhelming numbers in high school. May be a Walk On and he is the nephew of Pistons owner/Billionaire Tom Gores so there is always that to think about in potential down the road donations.

Was just coming here to post this. Have to think he is a PWO.fredthefalcon wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 9:22 am orangeandbrown blog reports that 5'11"G and EMU transfer Joey Zahar has committed to BG. Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

Re: Recruiting 2023-2024 The Simon Era
Not really sure why this player from EMU is transferring here. Doesn’t really appear to be D1 caliber but I trust this new coaching staff and assume they have a good plan.
Re: Recruiting 2023-2024 The Simon Era
I’d imagine he is a walk-on like Elsasser was. Except hopefully our program won’t actually have to give a walk-on minutes anymore. That’s something I’d like to leave in the Huger era.

Re: Recruiting 2023-2024 The Simon Era
It's interesting that as the roster now stands, we have sophomores at every position except the 5. And most of the other roster spots seem to be occupied by juniors. Coach is clearly trying to keep the roster balanced as much as he can while also getting some experience to help win games over the next two seasons, and giving the program time to begin recruiting high school players. It would seem his first significant freshmen class will likely be two years from now.

Definitely. I am not sure if Spurgin2 and Zehar are actually on scholarship and could both just be just one year scholarship guys and then walk ons. That's not a bad way to play the roster actually.Falconwriter wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 10:33 am It's interesting that as the roster now stands, we have sophomores at every position except the 5. He fits the shooting profile, and he’s a Todd guy, obviously.
Bring him in!

Re: Recruiting 2023-2024 The Simon Era
Three visits he has scheduled are BG, Cal Baptist, and Charleston. Looking at the rosters of each school I am going to guess that it is between Charleston and BG. BG has the advantage of the coach and an open competition. I think right now we will be running a lot of 3 guards with size. If so Barnes would be very much in the mix particularly with an already high knowledge of the coach's scheme. At Charleston he likely would have the D1 experience advantage over 3 newcomers who either are coming from HS or transferred from smaller programs. Distance wise BG and Charleston are approximately equal distance from Barnes' Md. home but the weather and associated local atmosphere gives the nod to Charleston. I am 50/50 on this possibility with my 51% leaning toward BG with Coach Simon.guest44 wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 6:16 am Dee Barnes is certainly still in the mix

I hope he ends up here, but having been on campus at Charleston before I know which one I’d pick.
