We have 12 guys. 5 start. 5 backups. I highly doubt we go all the way to the 12th guy.

The participation log is available here...you can see how many OL saw game action in 2022 and before. They do play special teams too...
I don't think you'll find too many coaches that think it's wise to go into a season with so few OL

Re: 2023 Offseason
There are offers out to other OLs currently in the transfer portal so I wouldn't be shocked to see couple/few more guys come in over the summer.Flipper wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 3:13 pm https://bgsufalcons.com/sports/football/stats

Re: 2023 Offseason
Those are 2 different points. I think we need more OL but we played 13 guys last year, 5 of which played less than 4 games so they could redshirt.Flipper wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 3:13 pm https://bgsufalcons.com/sports/football/stats

We're basically saying the same thing...we need OL. You can't go into a season with...essentially...zero margin for error considering academic issues that may arise, injuries and disciplinary issues as well. That we are at this point again with the OL blows my mind

Re: 2023 Offseason
The O-Line is a disaster at this moment. The potential returners are marginal and whomever they acquired or may bring in will have little time to gel and learn the ridiculously complex scheme. The QB room has never developed and filled to be able to “re-load”, nor has the O-Line room. This is the biggest regime failure. Almost all other positions can plug and play, except for these two.Flipper wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 9:07 am We're basically saying the same thing...we need OL. It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.
Re: 2023 Offseason
I'd say the lack of OL success is Loeffler's biggest failure so far in his tenure. I know it was a mess of a program after Jinks and that it needed to take a few years to progress after that, but the OL was the first thing he said he wanted to build up, and he has not done that.Flipper wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 9:07 am We're basically saying the same thing...we need OL. Re: 2023 Offseason
Hunter Deyo, a 4-star in the 2022 recruiting class, has decided to transfer to BGSU to play on the offensive line.
He comes over after redshirting at Iowa State last season. As a recruit in high school, he had offers from Iowa State, Iowa, Arkansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Oregon, and Wisconsin.
He should have 4 years of eligibility remaining. Seems like a big get.

Re: 2023 Offseason
We have now added OL transfers from Arizona St, Tulsa/Tennessee and Iowa St.
Could definitely use more bodies. I hope they sign some D3 guys from Heidelberg.

Give us a couple or three more OL and we'll have enough...

Re: 2023 Offseason
I curious how the recruiting pitch works. I bet they can just say "our line was very rough, every job is open." But on paper we return 3 starters, a likely fourth guy at C and we just got 3 power 5 transfers. Rounding out the group is another power 5 transfer
