Re: Offseason 2023
Looks like I misread the new chairback ticket pricing. It's $30 more than reserved for the entire season which I'm guessing covers the cost of the seat. So for 17 games that comes to less than $2/game to have back support. I hope this works out and they expand to other sections next season.

Re: Offseason 2023
I like the idea of the mesh being an option. I am one that does not want to see permanent chair backs installed. I'm not above average size by no means, but I have yet to be in an arena with them and not feel cramped. Our seats are in Section B, but we sit low in Section A so my dad doesn't have a lot of steps to climb. With the benches, we (and others) are able to move around him easier. He can turn to the side to make room for people to get past a lot easier than with permanent chairbacks.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 9:15 am Looks like I misread the new chairback ticket pricing. Re: chairbacks, the most reasonable design imo are the benchbacks at Lawson Arena (Western Michigan). You get the better of both worlds.
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

Re: Offseason 2023
We bring portable chairbacks to our seats in section G so expanding the program to other sections simply means we don't have to drag stuff in and out of the arena. I also like the temporary aspect. Given how the arena was constructed, the pitch on permanent seats would make a flight to California in economy feel like first class.

Re: Offseason 2023
I don't know that you misread it. When I first looked at the map with prices, all bench reserved sections had the same price. Now Section C has a different price.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 9:15 am Looks like I misread the new chairback ticket pricing. Glad to see Langseth gone. He was horrible on the ice, not sure why anyone thought he'd be good being in charge.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 2:12 pm Looks like we got a new chief ref. Anybody know anything about him?

Re: Offseason 2023
ASUs schedule just dropped. They have 24 home games plus the Desert Classic at Mullett plus an exhibition against UA at Mullett. They play the entire month of November without a road trip. Wow.

And that's how you make the NCAA tournament as an independent...

Re: Offseason 2023
We’ve added a December exhibition against Windsor to the schedule. I don’t think we’ve played them since the brawl in 2016?

Re: Offseason 2023
Did a little digging, we actually beat them 7-3 in an exhibition in 2018.

McMahon is reporting that Bentley will be hiring Andy Jones (UMass-Lowell assoc head coach) as their new head coach. Looks like Curtis will be back behind the bench this upcoming season.

Re: Offseason 2023
Because this offseason is dull and boring (at this point last year we had 23 pages in the offseason thread) I did some portal research. DISCLAIMER: the analysis is fairly cheesy and it won't take much to poke holes in the thing but it can at least spark some discussion. Here goes:
294 players entered the portal
12 ended up either back in juniors, transferring to Canadian schools, or turning pro
107 exercised their extra year of Covid eligibility and normally would NOT be available (so roughly 1/3 of the population won't be available next year)
101 entered the portal and are still sitting out there looking for a dance partner (so roughly 1/3) and 35 of these are 5th year Covid eligibility players
Now for the fun part. We all hear talk about big programs poaching from smaller programs. The table below shows how players have moved between leagues:
4 players went from the CCHA to AH, 6 to the B1G, 2 went to the Nachos, and 2 moved within the league (Zach Rose). Interestingly, 12 players went from HE to AH while 11 went from ECAC to HE. Another observation, there are not tons of kids moving from eastern leagues to western leagues and vice versa - for the most part they're staying within the same region.
The next table includes ONLY PLAYERS WITH AT LEAST 15 POINTS. I'm trying to capture where the "better" players are transferring.
AH had 12 players with 15 points or more transfer out, primarily to HE and CCHA while only 2 transferred in. CCHA saw 6 out, 6 in. Nachos saw 6 out, 5 in. B1G 9/4. Is there a conclusion that can be drawn? I'd say that for the most part players are shuffling between leagues but that there isn't a mass movement from lower leagues to higher leagues with respect to total points. The exception is that stud players from AH are indeed looking for greener pastures.
Here's the twist. If you look at TOTAL POINTS moving between the leagues (instead of just bodies) the table looks a lot different:
AH saw 385 points depart the league while only 135 entered (net -250 points) and the majority went to HE and Nachos. CCHA was flat at 227 in/213 out, but 123 of those points went to the B1G...WOW! Speaking of the top leagues, B1G, Nachos, and HE were all net positive in a big way.
Conclusion: based on my cheesy analysis, while it looks like player movement is relatively flat across the leagues, the skill level of those players skews to Nachos, B1G, and HE.
I have tons of data and can cut it up all sort of ways if anyone desires.
