The prep school he goes to tagged Steve Wright in the post announcing Greer’s commitment. Wondering if that means he’s staying on staff as the third assistant coach

Nicely done! Dude sounds like a stud.Hdog wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 10:49 pmTaking a stab on who player could be using the double Twitter follow theory [follows of both Simon and BGSU Basketball]: Ejay Greer 6'8" class of 2023 Rocktop Academy https://twitter.com/EjayGreer There are just a few of these double twitter follows - all of whom are BG basketball commits this Spring. I don't know how foolproof this is but would be a nice addition if it plays out.

He does sound like a stud. It's hard to tell for sure from the videos, but he looks the part. He seems to have a lot of hype surrounding him and a lot of "handlers" too. I don't know if that means he is a baller or just heavy marketing. The twitter post he made on the commitment states he is the "#1 post grad player in the country". I do like that a lot of people from the BG basketball family were working on this commit. Will be fun to watch how he fits with the other new pieces this coming season. We don't have a player like him on the roster.
Re: Recruiting 2023-2024 The Simon Era
We do now.
Kid looks the part, and I rarely watch prospect videos but his look damned good. Could be dunk city for him in the running Simon wants to do.
Re: Recruiting 2023-2024 The Simon Era
That's part of going to a place like Rocktop. It's a basketball prep school. For his (parents') tuition there he gets basketball training, school, and the marketing/contacts aspects of it. Looks like I saw somewhere he's still growing, went up 3" last year. He's got guard handles in a new PF (at least in the MAC) body. Looks like he's an elite SG/SF/PF body by MAC standards. From what I could find it appears that he went to prep school to improve his game moreso than academic reasons, looks like he was a 3+ GPA guy in HS and at prep school.Hdog wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 9:59 pmHe does sound like a stud. This kid seems like he could be the jewel building block for the long term view here. Nice to pull this kind of talent in a short recruiting year.

Or we polish that jewel and he hits the portal for a high major...

I mean… yeah. That’s the reality of the situation with basically every player that comes here from now on. I know Todd is going to do everything in his power to keep his group together (and I would love if he does) but my expectation would be that anyone who comes through here and has an excellent year will have offers to move to a bigger school. That’s just college athletics now.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 9:14 amHe said in his video "start to my basketball journey" or something like that.

Absolutely. I think Greer also has visions of the NBA in his head (realistic or not, I have no idea).mbenecke wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 9:26 amI mean… yeah. Either way, the way things have become in college athletics I fully expect our best players to move on after a year or two of good play. That's what this beast has become. Simon has made it a point to say how important it is for him to re-recruit and keep kids in the program. THat's something they succeeded with at SUU, so hopefully it's something he can do here. For all his faults Huger did a good job keeping guys like Turner and Plowden coming back when they certainly could have gone elsewhere, so it can be done.

Ejay Greer. This kid is the biggest HS recruit to hit the MAC in yeeeeeears. We haven't brought a kid with his kind of profile in my lifetime, which began before our last NCAA appearance.
Agee is capable of being all-MAC.
Marcus Hill is another instant-impact recruit who looks like he'll be big-time in this league.
Spurgin and DJ Smith will round out our starting line-up as well established D1 players.
Now, if Jamai Felt shows to be as good as his accolades, this could be an extremely enjoyable season coming up.
