My lame contribution to the discussion: Interesting!TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 12:12 pm Because this offseason is dull and boring (at this point last year we had 23 pages in the offseason thread) I did some portal research. I see Tennessee State is launching a hockey program. It will be club for now, but they do hope eventually to put it in Division I.

Here's a contest to see how many NCAA D1 coaches you can name. I got 28.

Speaking of college coaches, we have an assistant coach opening that was posted earlier this month. Anyone know anything about that?

NCAA approved an extra assistant coach for D1. Most are giving it to their hockey ops people.mbenecke wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 8:37 pm Speaking of college coaches, we have an assistant coach opening that was posted earlier this month. Anyone know anything about that?

Eric Pohlkamp, brother of Matt and Chris, was selected in the 5th round by San Jose.

Too embarrassing to report a number. I couldn't even think of all the CCHA coaches.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 8:28 pm Here's a contest to see how many NCAA D1 coaches you can name. I got 28.

Same. Couldn’t think of who Mankato hired, and there was a decent amount of shuffling this off-season. Let me try again in like January and I’ll do a lot better. Here's what I've seen for camps so far:
Blues: Scardina, Mamlstrom
Kings: Stoever
VGK: Swankler
Any others?

Scardina (#61) with a nice sequence where he handles the 2x1 then lights the lamp to the oohs and aahs of the crowd.

Arizona State officially announced to the Nacho, beginning 2024-25. League will schedule based upon three team pods. Sounds like Miami isn't going anywhere in the near term.

Wow, Miami must have the sads.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 05, 2023 1:13 pm Arizona State officially announced to the Nacho, beginning 2024-25. League will schedule based upon three team pods. Sounds like Miami isn't going anywhere in the near term.
The pods:
o ASU/CC/Denver
o Duluth/NoDak/St Cloud
o Miami State/Omaha/Western
Each team plays their podmates home and away each year with two home and away and four either home or away against the other two pods. Omaha got screwed though they have the least to complain about seeing as they spent time making those trips back in their CCHA 1.0 days. Edit: and they were already making those trips each year so it's not like they're suddenly on the road a ton more.

Re: Offseason 2023
The pods do give Miami a bit of a shorter travel guarantee here which may be enough to keep them around in the league.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Wed Jul 05, 2023 1:19 pmWow, Miami must have the sads.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 05, 2023 1:13 pm Arizona State officially announced to the Nacho, beginning 2024-25.
