2024 Football Commits

It’s camp season, and that often means it can be early commitment season, too - and we’ve picked up a pair of commitments so far this week:

Steven Jenkins Jr., a DB from Pennsylvania, chose BG today. So did Jaylin Ballew, a 3-star TE from New York with offers from Miami (FL), Ole Miss, Rutgers, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.

Very solid commits. Of course, these early commits often use BG as a placeholder until a larger offer comes around, but good to see high skill commits, nonetheless. Really like Jenkins. 6'2" 190lbs DB is some great size for BG secondary. I also ready that last season he only allowed 4 completed passes while intercepting three passes. Definition of shutdown.

Ballew's big offers came in when he was a high school freshman, so I'm guessing he was an early bloomer that big programs were trying to get ahead of but things slowed down for whatever reason. Seems like he's been more of a MAC/FCS recruit over the last year. Still looks like great potential.

Elijah Bernard-Blue, a 6’1 DB from Fort Lauderdale, FL, has committed to BG.

Dorian Pringle, a 6’0 LB from Massillon, OH, has committed to BG. He also held offers from Eastern Michigan and Temple.

First team all-Ohio last season as a junior.

6’0 ATH TJ Nelson, from Cincinnati, OH, has committed to playing defensive back at BG.

6’4 WR Winn Sharp, from Whitehouse, OH, has committed to BG. Good to see us get a local kid out of Anthony Wayne.

6'6" SAFETY?? I've never seen that kind of size in our secondary. Looks like he was at least getting looks from some big programs, too. Nice little catch.

6’1 WR Austin Clay out of Cleveland, OH has committed to BG. He had offers from Akron, Ball State, UMass, Navy, and Penn.

Alex Harris, a 6’4” 291lbs OT out of Cleveland, has committed to the Falcons.

Per the excellent Rhys Patrykus, Lancaster (TX) HS ‘24 RB Mar’Kel Porter has committed to Bowling Green.

Porter chose the Falcons over offers from Purdue, Toledo, Texas State and Grambling State.

According to Rhys Patrykus, Roseville (MI) HS ‘24 safety Elijah Parker has committed to Bowling Green.

The 6-3 DB chose BGSU over offers from Tiffin, Wayne State, Marshall, Ferris State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, and Miami of Ohio.

Aqil Meredith-Smith, a 6’3 offensive lineman out of Staten Island, NY, has committed to playing at BG.
