The finalized 2005 schedule wait continues

Post by BGSU33 »

Now that men's basketball is officially over for us, the wait for the finalized 2005 football schedule has cranked up a notch. The sooner it gets releases, the better, as all of us can start planning out road trips and our voyages back to "The Doyt." I hope it comes out soon as some schools around the country have already done so. The ACC released all of the school's schedules (conference and non-conference games) over a month ago.

Nick of www.Vandelaysports.com posted on the MACbbs forum that the MAC is still negotiating with ESPN about next season's TV games. He thinks, though, that an announcement about schedules should be coming soon.

The schedule is just starting to be made. Don't look for anything this week or next.

For what it's worth, there will be a home game on Saturday, October 1. It is homecoming. This was publicized at the MAC bashes at the Gund this past weekend.

I think it's safe to assume that our opponent will be somebody like Ohio, Kent, or Buffalo. They'll save the Miami game for a later weekend, probably TV.

I think we have Miami, in Oxford.

Yes we play Miami this year in Oxford. Not sure why, but actually I like this better. That way Jacobs plays Miami at the Doyt next year, probably on Senior Day. Maybe we will play Michigan on HC weekend.

Temple has already announced that they'll be in Bowling Green on Oct. 1, haven't they?

I think you are right about Temple. Although I would prefer to have a MAC game.

Everyone should e-mail the MAC and complain that the schedules aren't done. Conference USA has theirs done, lol.

Alright, so if the scheduling delay is because of negotiations with ESPN can we assume that this means that we'll be playing some Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday games? Does this concern people? Or is television coverage more important? It seems that because of television coverage most mid major conferences are being made to go away from having a traditional Saturday match.

I like the exposure.

I like the excitement a weekday game creates.

Hell anyone who has had the misfortune of driving on Wooster street on a Friday afternoon between 3-5 knows that a good majority of the students are jetting out of town. So why not play the games when the students are all around campus? Tuesday football it is!

Of course week night games really suck for those of us that don't live in the NW ohio region. No chance I can make any game not on a saturday. A friday night game maybe.
With only 5 home games I certainly hope no more than 2 fall during the week.
