Camp opened yesterday. The Blade interviewed Terion Stewart.

I got no intel. Plenty of his boys still there, but camp is 5Am to 9PM, so not much banter. Probably crawling home to bed…

I'll echo rogue. My contacts are support staff for the football program and they've been dead silent since camp began.

There's a closed practice this coming Saturday for a premier ticket holder event, and then an open scrimmage on the 19th for season ticket holders to attend. Probably the best opportunities to see who is playing where and who is injured, etc. Outside of that I'm anticipating only media reports until the season starts for news.

Sounds like it’s a coin toss at QB between Orth and the new kid from IN. Both do good, both do bad. One of the WR,s tore ACL today, not OJ or Osborne.

:vom:

Same garbage every year. If we were in any conference but the MAC we’d get our doors blown off on a weekly basis.

I'll be attending tomorrow's closed practice and will provide my thoughts on Sunday.

Some notes from today:

Bazelak and Orth both getting first team reps, although Bazelak was officially assigned with the ones. Both had pretty average days throwing the ball.

Loeffler said nine starters are currently hurt. He didn't give specifics but Fannin, Bench, and Ibrahim were not dressed.

Despite Stewart returning, it will still be running back by committee. He, Keith, Mosley, Patterson, and Wimberly all split reps.

A healthy Osborne will be key this year. He's an excellent route runner.

I hope Lucian Anderson ends up getting some special packages this season. Kid can really move.

The OL still looks to be an issue. It was difficult to tell if anyone is hurt as several guys rotated in and out.

Defensively, Brooks and Anderson will be sorely missed, but the unit as a whole will likely be a strong point.

Sounds like deja vu all over again. Same story, different names.

Right! Mediocrity looks to be the ceiling.

Isn’t that just kinda the MAC in 2023, though? Only 4 of the 12 teams in the league finished with a winning record last year. Everyone else was mediocre to bad.

Just kinda reality in this conference, at this point. Maybe that’s just apathy kicking in, but I genuinely think our program’s absolute ceiling moving forward is like 7 or 8 wins tops. We schedule too many guaranteed losses to expect to win double digit games. Especially to expect that consistently.
