SL is on the preseason Bupkus Award list...he's not gonna win anything
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I think this team will surprise. Might be eating crow!

The talent is there on both sides of the ball. As always it will come down to coaching and execution.

Bill Connelly has his final preseason SP+ rankings. BG is 129th out of 133 schools. Expected overall record of 4-8, 3-5 in MAC play.

Re: Fall Camp
Notes from today:
Intensity was there all day which was good to see. Last Saturday was honestly a little flat.
Bazelak and Orth again both worked with the ones. Bazelak was again the first on the field. Both looked really good, hitting accurate deep balls and avoiding pressure on a few plays.
The OL looked much better from last week. The starters appear to be Stewart (LT), Warner (LG), Bethea (C), Padgett (RG), Wollschlager (RT).
Not sure if it was due to injuries but Keith and Stewart were essentially 1a and 1b today. Mosley was the only other RB to see much action.
Loeffler said 14 guys were held out today for various injuries. It appeared more than half are on defense, which is concerning. Let's hope guys get right in the next two weeks.
The kicking game has some definite concerns. There were no punts today, not sure if Sir is hurt but I found that odd. All three kickers missed multiple field goals and kickoffs didn't make the end zone. Suspect that job is wide open.
DVDM mentioned there will surveys issued after every home game this year, sounded like for all events. He is committed to a first class fan experience.
The band played. They have 299 members, by far the most ever. There is a new pregame show this year, which includes the band spelling out BG with the LT falcon head. Dr. Waters gets it.
Two weeks until football. Depth chart should be released on the 28th.

Re: Fall Camp
Who was that person who melted down when Elsasser's kid was on the basketball team?
Re: Fall Camp
This is the most encouraging thing for me. Sure I want us to win and win a lot, but I also recognize the financial realities of where we are and where the ceiling is for MAC/BG football.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 2:15 pmDVDM mentioned there will surveys issued after every home game this year, sounded like for all events. But it does NOT cost that much money to make attending games a fun smooth fan experience. I'm encouraged in my conversations with DVDM, I'm encouraged by them sending out surveys (first time ever?) and asking the right questions. I do NOT expect it to all be corrected this season (especially in football), but I do expect to start seeing some things improving for the better. I hope I can get to a football game this year to see for myself.

Re: Fall Camp
He pretty much said this word for word. He expects increased engagement between season ticket holders/alumni regarding their issues. Notably, he mentioned parking complaints levied for football and basketball games. I take him at his word. He wants regular fans to see the improvements, and casual fans to want to come back because the experience was first class. It won't happen overnight. He also said Pollyeyes will have a food truck this year at the Doyt.hammb wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 9:10 amThis is the most encouraging thing for me. Other things at the Doyt - the pink seat backs are gone. Contractors were repainting seat numbers this weekend on the bleachers. Also, you can purchase via the Falcon Club the opportunity to watch the game from the bleachers in front of the Sebo Center, and even stand on the field in and around the north end zone. There will also be "suites" in the south end zone, and a revamped tailgate experience that can be purchased through the ticket website.

I think they had tickets to those suites at Costco too which should open up some fan eyes.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 11:49 amHe pretty much said this word for word. The Pollyeyes thing is big. One thing that has pissed me off to no end was how the University refused to cultivate relationships with the high quality local restaurants in favor of corporate partnerships that nobody wants. Jets is ok, I guess, but it's still just a chain...before that I think it was Marcos? In a town with places like Pisanellos, Pollyeyes, and [formerly] Myles? C'mon.... Mr. Spots had a food truck decades ago, maybe see about getting them to re-up it? So is a big supporter of BG athletics, how 'bout some gyros (seriously, I'd eat that at like every basketball game).
The list goes on, but BGSU has always tried to big time it with corporate partnerships that may pay some cash (betting not much), when they could look to cultivate that community->fan->athletics symbiosis.
Some of these things are far greater than athletics too. There has always been a disconnect between BG and BGSU; but Athletics could be a vehicle to correct that disconnect.

I’m very against a Mr. Spots food truck due to the fact that I may gain some serious weight this Fall/Summerhammb wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 1:54 pm I think they had tickets to those suites at Costco too which should open up some fan eyes.

Re: Fall Camp
I have Liberty, Miami and Western...at minimum..as losses. Akron and Kent could both be unpleasant surprises

Honestly… I would consider this to be a real step in the right direction and a solid season. Am I crazy for that?jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 2:12 pm Blade season predictions:

Independent of anything else, would hate losing to Toledo. Of course.
But every loss is understandable, and getting to a 2nd consecutive bowl game would be tremendous progress, right?
