2023 CFB Pick 'Em

Post by jpfalcon09 »

The pick 'em league is back for 2023. No prizes this year, just bragging rights and self-satisfaction. Follow the link below enter Group ID 4177 password AyZig1234

Week 0 games are not included.

Good luck!

I seem them now. Are we picking with the spread? And if so, what about games that are off the spread when we pick them? What happens if a spread is later added?

I'm so confused...LOL

Yes, picking against the spread. All spreads should be active now for FBS only matchups. If an FBS school is playing an FCS school there is no line and it's essentially a pick 'em game, pretty much a freebie.

Time to see if I'm picking like last year or picking like the annual hockey challenge.

I feel like the way these are written is backwards. It lists every home team under "favorite" and every road team under "underdog" even though there are road favorites on the board. I guess I don't understand how to read the way Yahoo is presenting this game.

Like I understand the concept of picking the spread. But the way it's listed doesn't seem to match up with the actual favorites/underdogs - unless it fixes itself when the lines are posted each day? Because currently, everything is listed as off the board.

I noticed that too. The favorite is not always in the left column, as it suggests. I go to a different website to find out the lines in a way that easy to read!

Yeah, Yahoo sucks this year with it. May look at a new platform for 2024.

I don't believe this was the case the first week. And if you notice, every game is currently listed as off. I'm guessing once the spreads appear that the Favorite/Underdog will then be corrected.

So, the home team is defaulted as the favorite. If the line has a minus next to it, it means that the road team (underdog) is favored in the spread. Really annoying how that is displayed.

The appearance on the app and the appearance on the website are different. In the app, it literally lists + or - the spread under each time. For example, Illinoi @ Kansas shows Illinois (+3) @ Kansas (-3). It lists every road team in the left column and every home team on the right column, and the + or - is correctly listed with each team. Notre Dame (-7.5) @ NC State (+7.5). On the website, it lists the favorite in the left column, the underdog in the right column, and the spread is written to the far right, meaning the team on the left is favored by that many points. You have to look for the @ symbol to see who is the road team for each matchup.

I prefer the app view over the website view. It makes more sense to me. The app is Yahoo! Fantasy app.

The web appears to make sense now. Where there is a current spread (not OFF) the favorite is properly shown. When it's OFF, the home team is defaulted as the favorite. But since it's off, it doesn't much matter and it sort of makes sense to have it default to the home team since they likely would be the favorite in these scenarios.

After a lackluster week, somehow I'm still holding in 2nd place. I assume it wasn't a banner work for anyone. ;)
