Re: vs. Liberty (9/2)
Light years? No....maybe he's a bit more...stable, but he sucks as a coach. He's got the 2nd lowest winning % here all time...even if you back out his first two yeas and give him a mulligan for them...his win % is still just .400. that's in line with Moe AnkneyBillyLP wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 12:04 pmThis is the exact correct angle. Loeffler is lightyears better than Jinks (which is more a testament to how horrible Jinks was than anything). For one, he actually put people with real experience on his staff. That said, he has still been a solid year behind where he should be for every year he has been here. He should go if he wins less than 7 games this year, though I think he'll be given another year if he wins 6. If he wins 5 or less, he's gone.ZuluWarrior wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 11:55 am I will admit that this is Loeffler’s make or break year, but he inherited the worst program in FBS when he took over. He’s had some great upsets and some brutal and embarrassing defeats - with Covid in the middle. Last year the team was respectable. This year we need to be competing for the MACC but he was dealt the worst cards in program history when he came on board. The time is now. Go BG!

Re: vs. Liberty (9/2)
He was promised five years when he took the job so it stands reason his fate will rely on what he does this year. He may suck as a coach in the eyes of some, but having to go through another teardown with the program is a pill I'm sure none of us want to swallow. Kent showed last night what could be a harbinger to come if that happens and there's a mass exodus. Then we'll want the next dude fired, and so on.Flipper wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 3:38 pmLight years? If you hate Scot, cool, but there are plenty of kids still on the roster who have seen the last few years through and been through a ton of sh*t. They deserve our support, as do the rest of the players.
I'm pumped for kickoff, the offseason takes too long as it is and football is back so let's try and enjoy it.
Go Falcons.

Things often get worse before they get better...that shouldn't be an excuse to stay the course. Besides...with the xfer portal..every year is gonna look like a tear down.
I do support the players, that's why I want them to have a better coach so they might win more games

Re: vs. Liberty (9/2)
12 hours til kickoff and I am so jacked for Falcon Football. Some new faces but we do return a good number of starters on both sides of the ball. Losing Brooks was huge but most of our DL and LB are back. Same with the DB's. Kicking game is an unknown...the biggest ? is the OL. We've rushed for a paltry 100 yards a game TWO seasons straight. We gotta be able to line up and play smash mouth. We have some very talented backs but ya gotta move folks outta the way so they can run. QB...I'm pretty sure it will be Bazelak. We seem stacked at TE. WR's should be solid but will the chemistry be there with Bazelak or Orth?
The sked is not kind...5 roadies in the first 7 games and only 3 home Sat dates. A win tomorrow would juice this team cuz Liberty will be a tough challenge. They're gonna be hard to beat. They've been to 4 bowl games in a row and now have the Coastal Carolina coach. Hard to tell what could happen. I want to see focused, smart play. Be prepared from the opening kick. Those games against Buffalo and Kent last year still keep me up at night.
For me, SL has to go at least 7-5 and 6-2 in the MAC this year. It's his program now and year 5. He said this would be the year BG would compete for the title. We were respectable last season. But being respectable should never be the goal of BG Football. Competing for division and league titles should.
I'll admit I wear orange and brown glasses a bit more than I should.
So yeah, I'll pick BG in a close one, 30-28.
BTW, take a look at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg. Damn it's impressive. 25,000 seats but looks bigger to me...at least in the pics online.
105th season of Falcon Football...make us proud, fellas. Ay Zig.

Not Kool-Ade.
Seriously...Liberty isn't OSU...if we can get some pressure w/o Brooks and block well enough to give our QB's time to let those long developing routes open and our RB's some room...we could beat them

Re: vs. Liberty (9/2)
College football coaches are so weird. We hit the jackpot with Dave Clawson. Were burnt badly by Jinks. Dino Babers was fun but annoying and I wouldn't want to go back that way. The College football landscape is littered with D bag head coaches like him and the thing we can do at BG is be patient and not do that. I am encouraged by the Simon hire and the Womens coach hire and think that we will nail the football hire eventually. Clawson is the blue print. Just take out all the d bags immediately and your pool is down to like 1/3. Can you imagine having Deion Sanders your head coach? We would all pretend it was cool and then chastise him when he left. I am all for giving Loeffler a chance. He said all the right things when he came in, he has had a little progress and he has bought into the culture the AD is trying to fill. But I am also all for showing him the door if we don't see more progress. You can find a good guy with more charisma and a better offense pretty easily.
Re: vs. Liberty (9/2)
Agreed. As someone who has sideline passes a few times a season it was noticeable the lack of organization on the sidelines. They were consistently unfocused, often didn’t sub the correct players in for specific packages and fundamentally they were awful. We don’t have the second coming of Urban Meyer but this is better than Jinks.BillyLP wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 12:04 pm This is the exact correct angle. My issue with last year was the inconsistency. A lot of me wants to put that on McDonald, but we will see
Re: vs. Liberty (9/2)
I watched them torch a UAB team that won their conference a couple years ago at UAB but they had that really fast QB then that nobody on UAB could tackle. If their QB now is anyway near as good as him, it will be a long afternoon.

Line continues to drop - no idea why, but I have to think whispers of an injury to someone significant at Liberty?
