Solid win but not spectacular. Great being back home at the Doyt yesterday. Fannin is a BEAST and for the love of PJ Pope, get the ball more to Keith. Dude is a serious playa. Stewart is a bull as well. We played well for most of the game but still had a few serious breakdowns that better teams will make us pay. Bazelak was much better but we didn't rush for as many yards as we should have. Students were great and most hung around the whole game.

Mrs. Freak has her HS class reunion Saturday night in Sheffield Village (Lorain County) at Quaker Steak & Lube. I'm sure the UM game will be on a couple TV's. I give us a 5% chance of winning. I just want to get back on 9/23 for Ohio cuz that is the biggest game of the season until Bancroft High. Preseason, I had us at 2-2 or 1-3. Thought the Liberty game was a toss up.

There are several games every year with BG and other MAC schools where you wonder what they practice?
Money. Resources. Inability to retain talent with the portal. Why would anyone want to coach in the conference? Success is fleeting and elusive.
I think we’re pretty close to seeing a couple of the haves in the MAC head to the AAC for this reason. I have heard about two, specifically, having conversations.
Do those couple include any of Toledo, Buffalo, and Ohio U?

If Toledo leaves...we can schedule them home and home every year and actually have the game on a weekend with nice weather. I wonder if Miami or NIU might be another school with thoughts of bolting

Yep, you have both in there.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

Miami will probably be very timid before attempting another league jump. The downfall of their hockey program, along with the costs associated there, isn't going to have them looking elsewhere for other sports.

The hockey thing has been a disaster...and travelling into Oxford is challenging... but Miami has an attractive pedigree and a willingness to spend.

If we had the $$$....we'd be a great school to poach

They *think* they have the money to spend. They don't actually have it.

Miami State's hoops arena needs to be nuked and rebuilt. Hockey has already been mentioned. They pull more from the general fund than every other MAC school to make up their athletics shortfall. They ain't goin' anywhere.

Miami? You mean the school that hasn't beaten us in hockey since 2019?

I have some very fond memories of Miami...took the academic year off in 1982...worked as a waiter, so I always had cash....dated a waitress from work who went back to school at Miami...I lived at home and made some good money, so I spent a lot of time down there pursuing a dead end relationship. Visited Hueston Woods a number of times then and over the years...they had (have?) these fun little one room cabins we liked to rent in the fall.

Oxford is kind of a drag... IIRC
