Agreed...Michigan was flat, but that was a really strong effort especially given all the adversity they faced. Loeffler did a great job keeping them focused and competing

I think Fannin might have also been injured in the first quarter. Hope we get healthy for Ohio. If healthy, I think this team will win some games in the MAC and maybe even compete for the East.
Re: at #2 Michigan (9/16)
Loeffler says we lost Bazelak at the end of practice on Thursday night and Timo didn’t even take any practice reps in our offense this week. He was JJ McCarthy on the scout team all week.

That was a great effort by a short handed team. Props to coach and the team!

Re: at #2 Michigan (9/16)
He's had a nagging lower body injury since camp. Seemed to have flared up. Saw him doing high steps on the sidelines in the 2nd quarter and obviously never came back.
Glad I went to the game. UM fans were actually pretty tolerable around me. A lot of nice things to say about the defense. One person was shocked Orth was the backup given he threw some beautiful deep balls. If Bazelak is healthy the game is probably tied at half.
All in all, it was an inspired effort and something you should expect to see from a program in its fifth year under SL. Hoping against hope though that the injuries don't derail the season.

Playing with a third string quarterback for most of the game - that was a gritty performance and players and coaches did a great job with multiple injuries and challenges.
I can’t find any updates on Demetrius Hardamon. Does anyone have any information on his condition? Sending best thoughts to him and his family.
If we can roll into MAC play with good health, this could be an entertaining season.

Loeffler didn’t have an update on Hardamon in his postgame presser. He said he’s not a doctor and couldn’t diagnose anything, but he was encouraged by DH being able to move his hands. But he also acknowledged that they knew right away that something was wrong when the hit happened.ZuluWarrior wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 8:38 am Playing with a third string quarterback for most of the game - that was a gritty performance and players and coaches did a great job with multiple injuries and challenges.

He also said someone has a high ankle sprain. Couldn’t hear who was being asked about, but I’m assuming it was about one of Orth, Gazarek, or Bazelak. I’m pretty sure Orth had a concussion (which happened right before our 2nd FG, and was the reason we kicked instead of throwing Timo out there on 4th down for his first snap of the game), so I would assume he was referring to Baze or Gazarek.
He was also asked who would be playing at QB next week and he joked that he might have to come out of retirement for it. So… guess that’s something to monitor this week. If we see the lefty warming up, we know Ohio is screwed. Lol

I think he was talking about Gazarek when he mentioned the high ankle sprain.mbenecke wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 9:39 amLoeffler didn’t have an update on Hardamon in his postgame presser. As for Timo playing over Anderson last night ... is it possible the coaches want Anderson to be the guy if neither Baze nor Orth can go next week, and they didn't want to risk having Anderson get injured at U-M? I could be dead wrong, but that was one of my first thoughts when I saw that Timo was in the game. Maybe they wanted to make sure Anderson was healthy for the MAC opener?
Re: at #2 Michigan (9/16)
Hardamon suffered an “orthopedic injury” last night. He is in stable condition and able to walk around. They are thinking he will be released from the hospital soon - Amazing news.

That’s not it at all. The plan is to redshirt Anderson. He’s not some secret weapon we have in our back pocket come MAC schedule time. We were bent over a barrel last night m. Bazelak got injured Thursday in practice (appears to be his right knee, no idea how serious) and Orth got the nod. When he went down, we were F’ed. Timosciek was our emergency #3 option and there we were with him early in the 2nd quarter. It was a train wreck scenario at the QB position in a heartbeat. I went back and watched all of our offensive snaps with Orth. He was sacked a couple times but nothing that looked like anything that would have led to a concussion. It was puzzling. I think Anderson is going to be good down the road, but if both Bazelak and Orth are out be Ohio, we have zero chance at somehow pulling off a win. Bottom line is we must one of those guys under center on Saturday.threestooges wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 4:44 pmI think he was talking about Gazarek when he mentioned the high ankle sprain.mbenecke wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 9:39 amLoeffler didn’t have an update on Hardamon in his postgame presser. Timo gets a week of practice and anything is possible. Ohio won last year's matchup with a backup QB being put into a difficult situation. The game is winnable until it isn't.BGSU33 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 6:24 pmThat’s not it at all. The plan is to redshirt Anderson. Bazelak had a noticeable limp during pregame, and if Orth was held out due to concussion protocol, it's a good bet neither of those guys are ready for practice on Tuesday. Loeffler's media day tomorrow is going to be the most interesting one he's had since taking over here.

I think SL may have sat Bazelak to “save him”, just like he did last year at Mississippi State with McDonald.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

Perhaps, but he didn't look right simply walking around during warm-ups. Fingers are crossed.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 8:00 pm I think SL may have sat Bazelak to “save him”, just like he did last year at Mississippi State with McDonald.
