How in the world does this happen, especially after recent history? I’m baffled at the lack of leadership exhibited at the top.

I can’t see how Eigner survives this. DVDM gets to hire his third revenue sport head coach. Was that mentioned during his interview?

I'm sure Swankler won't be the only one leaving if/when Ty's departure is announced. It will be interesting to see who actually throws their name in for this job.

It'll be interesting if there's even enough players to field a team this year, or if the team even plays. Hate to speculate but you have to believe all options are on the table, including a suspension of the season if there's evidence of a deeper cultural issue. I would be surprised if this is an isolated incident over the course of the past several years...these types of things are rooted in some sort of sick tradition.

I'm kicking myself for complaining about how un-interesting this offseason has been. Idiot.

So, what are the details of the "incident?" Does anyone actually know? Or are we just hanging anybody we can in the name of "hazing." Let's not forget, the definition of hazing has become so broad anymore, that most of the crap we did as college kids having fun would be considered "hazing" by today's definition.

Swankler tells The Blade he is transferring due to cultural issues within the program which conflicted with his culture and values. He didn't want to be a part of it any longer and is what drove him to leave.

What a mess.

He's getting out in front of whatever specific details are forthcoming. That means it's pretty bad.

Edit: He also threw Ty under the bus.

A lot of the crap we did 20-30 years ago wasn't an issue. Times have changed. No details are out but you have to imagine it's serious enough if the police notified the university of what was going on.

This all sounds VERY bad....Look at how the program has been going down the last couple seasons. FFS.

Best thing to do is to move as quickly as possible. Fire Eigner, kick the offenders off the team, get through what will likely be a terrible season with the interim coach and hope that DVDM can make an all-star hire. Not trying to assume guilt, but the words from Swankler sure make it seem like it was as rotten of a culture as you could have.

Agree with all this.

Swankler had to have known about the "rotten culture" yet still signed up for another year. I take his comments as those from a publicist trying to help get their client in front of whatever details about the "culture" will be forthcoming. Maybe I'm naïve.

What words from Swankler am I missing or are you referring to the Taylor Schneider Instagram post?

Also, I’m going to wait to form my opinion on the situation until more details come out. I’ve seen comments on the Everything College Hockey Instagram post that are describing some behind the scenes locker room type stuff that doesn’t cast the best light on Swankler either. They are alleging that the incident report may be retaliatory.

Until I hear an official report from the investigation, I’m not ready to throw Ty or anyone else under the bus.

A coach with an iota of awareness after the previous frat incident would recognize this and make it clear to his upperclassmen what the administration won't tolerate, even if for no other reason than to cover his own rear end.

I'll reserve judgement of Eigner until I hear the full story, but I can't imagine he survives this.
