Also, I’m going to wait to form my opinion on the situation until more details come out. I’ve seen comments on the Everything College Hockey Instagram post that are describing some behind the scenes locker room type stuff that doesn’t cast the best light on Swankler either. They are alleging that the incident report may be retaliatory.

Until I hear an official report from the investigation, I’m not ready to throw Ty or anyone else under the bus.
Good point. I hope this isn't as bad as it seems.

I hope the hazing allegations are false. The net result here however if the stuff about Swankler is true is that there are still have massive issues within the program, and the buck stops with the coaching staff. That is the unfortunate common denominator here.

Way too much drama for a middling college hockey team regardless.

And just like that the program completely falls apart. Unreal

What a mess.
If he talked to the media already, he may as well take his chances signing a contract. Coaches may be interested, but being accepted by the players on a team after that, good luck.

It'll be tough for him to find a program with an open scholarship three weeks before the season starts. Pretty much everyone is set for the season.

According to Briggs at The Blade, DVDM served a notice to Eigner this morning which stated he is on administrative leave “pending a review of allegations of hazing involving hockey team members posing a substantial risk of serious physical harm to other players.”

I don’t know the full details but I do know there is some truth to Swankler getting in trouble and then retaliating by coming forward with the hazing details.

The timing of his announcement was more than a coincidence the more I thought about it. Then the comments he made to The Blade seemed really odd, like he was eager to get out ahead of the story to establish some narrative. Unfortunately, you have to throw the retaliatory part out the window here if there was hazing going on.

...I had also heard this. What do you know?

And like jp said above, the hazing being reported, even if it was in a retaliatory way, is a HUGE problem that needs to be dealt with regardless.

If this turns out to be nothing more than Sharpie-Gate 2.0, he better figure out a way to finish his degree. He's going to need it, because he's done playing. Nobody's going to want him in their locker room.

There has to be a reason they suspended Eigner. He isn’t getting suspended unless it’s a pretty big deal. I’m a little surprised he was suspended unless he knew about the incident or incidents and didn’t report it.

Given the recent settlement the university made with the Foltz family in their hazing lawsuit, there is no way they couldn’t suspend him with a pending hazing allegation.

My personal opinion is the suspension is a cover your ass type of move by the university and athletic department. This community is now hypersensitive to anything that could be considered hazing due to recent history.

The putting players in danger aspect is worrisome

I sat in the CCHA media day Zoom call. No questions on the situation were taken. Curtis did well but he looked a bit down to me. As to be expected.
