Re: Year 5 - it’s time to make a change - NOW
Loeffler is owed about $1.3 million for a buyout. $47K per month remaining this year, $580K in 2024, & $600K in 2025.
There is also the potential fallout for Ty Eigner where BG would owe him around $280K if he is let go without cause.

There was no reason to extend Loeffler…he hadn’t earned it. Just pissing away money.

Also no reason to post an entire thread on potential replacements. It’s just pissing away our eyeballs.

Re: Year 5 - it’s time to make a change - NOW
“We beat ourselves, plain and simply.” This is a direct quote from SL after the game. The man simply does NOT get it. He opened his presser and spent the first few minutes of it talking about the extra curricular after the whistle. Which I agree, needs to be addressed. But then followed it up with that quote. Ohio whipped BG in every phase of the game and he just ducks it and says we beat ourselves and he was embarrassed about things after the whistle. He’s clueless man, simply clueless.
GO BG!!!

Yes no point. Move on for now. Next game up!

There is no reason to make this comment 12 times....we get it. Just pissing our time away.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 9:26 pm [quote=TommyG post_id=456053 time=1695518483 user_id=52309]

I’ll make the comment 12 more times. Anyone with a clue about college athletics could’ve evaluated last season as complete luck getting to 6 wins. Only beating teams that were playing backup MAC QBs and a crazy Marshall upset.
Year 1 it was obvious the guy couldn’t run an offense. He had a dual threat type QB trying to make multiple reads in the passing game instead of just simplifying and adjusting to his personnel.
Then you just see his teams get blasted all the time. Good coaches might lose because of talent, but they usually don’t get their butt kicked 3-5 times per year, even when rebuilding.
I think getting rid of him after last year would’ve been fair, but okay he beat UT….Let him coach out his contract and prove the 6 wins weren’t a fluke.
Instead we give the guy 2 additional years….unless the contract has a crazy school friendly buyout of less than 10k it was a terrible deal. Now you are looking at either buying him out or forcing people to watch him for at least 2024.
BG gets exactly what it deserves…you make stupid decisions, you get the results you see across the board on the Men’s side. It’s an embarrassment. The new AD seems to get it, but I can’t fathom how this extension was offered.
Re: Year 5 - it’s time to make a change - NOW
Bottom line is the extension was made to keep recruiting consistent, just like every short extension ever. Has no impact on the decision after this year. He finishes with a losing record, he’s fired. The money won’t be an issue. It’ll come from private sources and a lot of it will be deferred.

They will find the money and some of it will go away when he is Texas AnMs Senior Offensive Analyst.

Yup. Team hits seven losses and the university pulls the trigger. Loss #4 is next week and then you have to essentially run the table against Buffalo, Akron, Kent, Ball State, & WMU. The lower half of the MAC is pretty much ass so it's sadly plausible. The goal was getting to Detroit though and it ain't happening this year, so ideally he should be held to that even if he pulls a six-win season out of his rear end.BillyLP wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 11:06 pm Bottom line is the extension was made to keep recruiting consistent, just like every short extension ever. Wins shouldn't even really matter. It should be hope and excitement. There is none of that. You can see the players are just kind of going through the motions and don't believe.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 11:49 pmYup. Team hits seven losses and the university pulls the trigger. Re: Year 5 - it’s time to make a change - NOW
He is Dave Clawson 2.0 to many of the donors. That’s why he is still here. He isn’t Babers or Jinks. That’s his best attribute. They still believe it, and after a few days home from this weekend some nonsense Loeffler spews out will have them back believing it. It’s one thing to have leadership focused on getting kids on teams and totally clueless. It’s another to have donors still believing that Loeffler is Clawson. The BGSU donors have a lot of say and that’s not a good thing. How many blowouts do they need to see to evaluate that more as the norm, than a win over Toledo with a backup QB, in a year where Toledo still won the MAC. Toledo cares about winning. Bowling Green is a photo op for the family. 14-32 to the moon.
Re: Year 5 - it’s time to make a change - NOW
Loeffler has lost 22 MAC games in 5 years.
16 of those 22 losses against conference foes have been by 20+ points. That’s an incredibly concerning trend.

Add to that..we have some guys who play a dirty, cheap game of football. That hit that got Warner tossed was Godawful ...and Ferguson's hit on Rourke as he was going out of bounds was dirty as hell..he went at his knees. We do a lot of chirping and stuff after the whistle.. It isn't tough football...it's crap
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
