Year 5 - it’s time to make a change - NOW
Re: Year 5 - it’s time to make a change - NOW
Watch DVDM over the next 6 months. He came in guns blazing. Does he settle in and realize the standards here are so low, and Rogers is perfectly OK with celebrating mediocrity? It’s his specialty. Or does he do the real heavy lifting to raise the standard? The contract extension is partly realizing the low standards, getting your kid a chance to be on a D1 football team. It’s more donors who actually think Loeffler has any coaching ability who were convinced he can coach, digging in further because they told everyone how awful Babers left it.
Re: Year 5 - it’s time to make a change - NOW
Some of you are so uninformed it amazes me….if you think donors are going to pony up 1.3 million to get rid of him, you’re nuts. The great majority of that money is coming from the athletic department. (If they actually buy him out).
I shouldn’t be surprised because a lot of you thought things were headed in the right direction considering where things were.
I guess they could always try to cut baseball again? That can free up some money.

Loeffler shares exactly one attribute with Clawson that differs from Babers and Jinks.
And it wood county Ohio I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was helping keep him here.

It took Flipper's tip in for me to get it. LOL.

Well BGSU is still providing free tuition for fired employees kids, so money isn’t that tight. It’s just not going to go to firing this coach.

There is a lot of truth here. I'm tired of seeing our once proud program reduced to garbage. Get rid of SL by the end of the season.TommyG wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 10:29 pmI’ll make the comment 12 more times. Anyone with a clue about college athletics could’ve evaluated last season as complete luck getting to 6 wins. Only beating teams that were playing backup MAC QBs and a crazy Marshall upset.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 9:26 pm [quote=TommyG post_id=456053 time=1695518483 user_id=52309]
There was no reason to extend Loeffler…he hadn’t earned it. Just pissing away money.
Year 1 it was obvious the guy couldn’t run an offense. He had a dual threat type QB trying to make multiple reads in the passing game instead of just simplifying and adjusting to his personnel.
Then you just see his teams get blasted all the time. Good coaches might lose because of talent, but they usually don’t get their butt kicked 3-5 times per year, even when rebuilding.
I think getting rid of him after last year would’ve been fair, but okay he beat UT….Let him coach out his contract and prove the 6 wins weren’t a fluke.
Instead we give the guy 2 additional years….unless the contract has a crazy school friendly buyout of less than 10k it was a terrible deal. Now you are looking at either buying him out or forcing people to watch him for at least 2024.
BG gets exactly what it deserves…you make stupid decisions, you get the results you see across the board on the Men’s side. It’s an embarrassment. The new AD seems to get it, but I can’t fathom how this extension was offered.

Saw DVDM at the soccer match vs Bradley and he looked like a man with a lot on his mind...For the love of Doyt Perry, do the right thing and show SL the door,guest44 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 7:33 am Watch DVDM over the next 6 months. I’m uninformed in a lot of ways, but this isn’t one of them. Wins shouldn't even really matter. It should be hope and excitement. There is none of that. You can see the players are just kind of going through the motions and don't believe.

I thought at that as well yesterday. They don't believe in the staff...it's over when that happens. Just like Huger...kids tuned him out and it was history. I don't see it getting better and I wear orange and brown glasses. lol

One of the reasons I'm not optimistic is our situation at QB. Loeffler sat his boy against UM yo protect him, but Bazelak is 22/52 for 180 yds with no TDs and 5 picks against FBS defenses.
Orth deems like the better option...but Loeffler let him be the Bozo punching bag at UM..so who knows when he'll be back

Loeffler will find other employment and the university will settle with him on a lesser amount, just like Jinks. It won't be that difficult to pull off. There's precedence for this situation. Don't know why people can't understand that.BillyLP wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 11:05 amI’m uninformed in a lot of ways, but this isn’t one of them. Yep Orth has looked way better against fbs teams. This transfer be brought in been transferring his entire career for a reason.Flipper wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 11:42 am One of the reasons I'm not optimistic is our situation at QB. I’m not saying there aren’t donors who could potentially contribute to a buyout or that BG couldn’t do a buyout. I am saying that it isn’t nearly as easy as some of you think and BG put themselves in this situation (just like they did handing out an unwarranted extension to Huger).
As a donor, I don’t care how much money you have, you’re going to think long and hard before you hand over 100K-500k to pay a football coach to go away. Especially in this economy. Most donors won’t even consider it…the money will end up coming from BG Athletics. It doesn’t really impact Football, but other sports will suffer because of it.

You don't think he talked to donors before making the decision to give him an extension?
