I know it wasn’t, I was just expanding on your post.

I believe we are interpreting this situation pretty similarly.

It is entirely possible that Moosbrugger and Hughes handed out the double secret contract extension during Covid. However, it is much more likely the Elsasser path was followed. A free roster spot for your kid.

Swankler is on twit-x stating he was hazed so he reported it and left...At this point...he is the only person with first hand knowledge of the situation making a public statement. It will be interesting to see how this plays out

I think he needs to mention his values a couple more times. Maybe people will start to believe him then?

People with nothing to hide don't feel it necessary to "clear the air" while an investigation is active.

Does anyone have a sense as to how long an investigation of this nature should take? Two weeks? Two months? Six months?

Depends on how deep and broad they have to go. I would suspect they are also investigating the circumstances the report was made under. Depending where that leads, there's legal hoops to jump through to make sure i's are dotted and T's crossed. It took how long to overcome the program elimination rumors that were affecting recruiting? If the hazing allegations are unfounded, and were reported under retaliatory circumstances, I expect legal action will be taken there. There's been a lot of damage done.

Who would take that legal action in that circumstance?

If it’s determined to be a false or malicious report, my guess would either be the dean of students office on behalf of the university since it was reported to them, or the university or city police department because their resources were used for the investigation.

I’m guessing though, that unless Swankler wildly fabricated details or there is some kind of proof to show he had premeditated intentions in making the report, there would be no reason to turn it back on him for making the report alone.

So far as the police go...I don't think the alleged victim's intention behind reporting a crime is an issue...a least not initially. I think they focus more on investigating the validity of the accusations. If the allegations seem wholly fabricated...then I suppose they'd look into the intentions behind them

It is if he was caught doing something. Something he addressed himself in one of his Twitter posts.

See, I view the locker room/equipment part as a completely different situation unless details of the reported hazing incident were fabricated and it is revealed that the report is directly tied to it.

Yes. If there was hazing, get rid of it - regardless of how it was reported.

But also, I'm fine with the university and athletic department trying to block Swankler's eligibility if he left in a way that was... in any way retaliatory.

More than willing to let the process play out and see what the investigation turns up before forming a real opinion on it. It's just a sad situation that this is happening to our program.

If it has to pull back the curtain to BGSU Equipment for where gear and equipment goes, good luck with that. Thats going to be the last thing they are interested in doing.
