Unless the NCAA recognizes a coach being on leave as a coaching change, he can't play until the second semester.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 3:50 pm Austen Swankler has committed to Michigan Tech.

Tech visits BG Feb. 23/24. That should be interesting.

Re: Offseason 2023
Kudos to him to weasel out of BG and conveniently wind up on the preseason favorite to win the league. That definitely passes the smell test.

Re: Offseason 2023
Well, we now know the following:
1) Swankler told his side to Shawhan who heard enough to assess the risk and take it to the Tech AD.
2) She heard enough to assess the risk and OK the recruitment.
3) Given the situation, I would assume the president of the university was also involved in the decision and also signed off.

Re: Offseason 2023
BG would be wise to contest any immediate eligibility. Force him to play starting the turn of the calendar. If he's immediately eligible then either the NCAA OK'd him a waiver or the decision on Eigner's future has been made and it's not public.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 4:27 pm Well, we now know the following:

So Swankler is claiming at 22 years of age and a Junior, he was a victim of hazing? Not your typical 18 year old Freshman that gets hazed. It doesn't pass the smell test. I am waiting to hear what is found after the investigation is concluded as I have a feeling it's something else.

And you kept complaining about how quiet the offseason was. You should know better by now.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 4:47 pm What a fuc$ing sh!tsh@w this season is turning into.

Re: Offseason 2023
The NCAA has less rules than Whose Line Is It Anyway? when it comes to transferring at this point. Even if Eigner survives this ordeal and remains coach, I wouldn't be surprised if Swankler finds some loophole or is granted some arbitrary exception to be eligible right away.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 4:39 pmBG would be wise to contest any immediate eligibility. Re: Offseason 2023
Apparently there's no waiver and he's sitting until the second half. Feel free to speculate what that means for BG.
