Definitely a bounty weekend for the team.
Any Falcon Player want an NIL deal, I'll give you a hundred bucks for every time he's dropped on the ice, and a thousand dollar bonus for exiting with the trainer. I know enough he's not a nice teammate and he's the root cause of all this. Victim my ass. I may sit right behind the Tech bench that weekend and be an Idiot to him all weekend. Shithead may want security when he steps back into the Slate.

This all feels carefully planned out. Even if the hazing stuff has merit. Report it a few weeks before the season. Run to the media. Hit the portal. End up going to the preseason league favorite.

If the investigation finds nothing, there are going to be so many people raising eyebrows and questioning motive.

Aren’t there easier ways to move on? He could have hit the portal at the end of the season. Why go through all this drama?

There's another rumor of BG killing an NIL deal with Adidas.

Now that would not be surprising at all.

An NIL deal is cancelled so he burns the place to the ground?

University has a deal with Nike. Don't believe hockey is part of that, at least for equipment as I believe Warrior supplies that. If there's any truth to that rumor, that would make sense though to squash an Adidas deal.

Makes sense except for then turning right around and nuking the place.

PR. Player leaving 2 weeks before the start of the season because of an NIL deal looks bad, and the deal probably isn't following. Player leaves because of hazing going against his "values," looks almost heroic. Count how many times he mentions his "values" in the first Blade article, then again on Twitter. Say it enough times and you'll start to believe it.

I think it's more likely that the NIL deal will indeed follow. I'm guessing it is something other high level college hockey players are starting to see available. I'm also guessing BG is once again behind the curve, and trying to keep control. All guesses, but the quick transfer makes me think the potential NIL deal is following along.

So now it's because we couldn't find a way to accommodate an NIL deal over a rival sportswear behemoth for the most talented revenue sport athlete at the university? OK, fine, he's not the greatest kid in the world, but this is how he exits? I'm struggling with this one.

Whatever happened to the initial circumstances of stealing and reselling stuff, is that now off the table?

I am not defending the kid whatsoever! But, as each scenario gets weirder and weirder, it seems to me the simplest explanation is there's a hazing (or bullying, I could see that) problem that has to be addressed.

I know nothing on the hazing. I know nothing on the culture. I know nothing on the equipment stuff, although I can say he certainly wouldn’t be the first if reselling team issued stuff if that is in question. I do believe NIL or lack thereof was most likely on his radar as it is for most college athletes these days. It’s not hard to see that BG is way behind in that regard. For example, when it comes to NIL, Toledo has lapped them in a two mile race, about six times. I can’t imagine that isn’t happening in college hockey with schools where hockey is the priority.

If it was only about the hazing, there would have been no need for the PR campaign. No need to talk to the Blade, post on Twitter, etc. There's more to it than that, there's just no information being leaked from the investigation itself, so people start speculating.

FWIW, my wife had a member of the men's soccer team as a student teacher fairly recently (2020-2021, I think). He was complaining because all they were allowed to wear was Nike. They weren't allowed to wear anything that showed a logo that was something other than Nike. So, someone negotiating an NIL deal with an apparel company would have known what the outcome would be beforehand.

It all makes sense, but it doesn't make sense.
