Offseason 2023
Re: Offseason 2023
The even more confusing part about the Nike stuff is you see half the football coaching staff wearing Jordan brand stuff on TV. Only select schools are that and BGSU is certainly not one of them. It’s likely another contract made that most involved rarely ever follow unless it can be used to control people.

Re: Offseason 2023
There was a Facebook post yesterday from an individual who is related to a recent former player who wrote that there was a petition created by three players to get Swankler removed from the team. Apparently all the team members signed it. Those same three are the ones who are being investigated. Consider the source, but that is out there as well.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 8:20 am So now it's because we couldn't find a way to accommodate an NIL deal over a rival sportswear behemoth for the most talented revenue sport athlete at the university? OK, fine, he's not the greatest kid in the world, but this is how he exits? I'm struggling with this one.
Whatever happened to the initial circumstances of stealing and reselling stuff, is that now off the table?
I am not defending the kid whatsoever! But, as each scenario gets weirder and weirder, it seems to me the simplest explanation is there's a hazing (or bullying, I could see that) problem that has to be addressed.

You've made some very good points over the past couple days, this one ranks right up there.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 9:20 amIf it was only about the hazing, there would have been no need for the PR campaign. No need to talk to the Blade, post on Twitter, etc. There's more to it than that, there's just no information being leaked from the investigation itself, so people start speculating.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 8:20 am So now it's because we couldn't find a way to accommodate an NIL deal over a rival sportswear behemoth for the most talented revenue sport athlete at the university? FWIW, my wife had a member of the men's soccer team as a student teacher fairly recently (2020-2021, I think). He was complaining because all they were allowed to wear was Nike. They weren't allowed to wear anything that showed a logo that was something other than Nike. So, someone negotiating an NIL deal with an apparel company would have known what the outcome would be beforehand.
It all makes sense, but it doesn't make sense.

Those who are guilty are often the loudest. The speculation and rumors are obviously running rampant, but there are numerous accounts across several different platforms that something was going on involving Austen. You have to imagine it isn't BS at this point, and it would explain the PR game likely coming from his agent.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 9:20 amIf it was only about the hazing, there would have been no need for the PR campaign. There’s been a lot of pretty abhorrent s**t posted on this website. This is probably some of the most vile, disappointing, and quite frankly borderline illegal words typed here.unfalconbelievable wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 7:28 pmAny Falcon Player want an NIL deal, I'll give you a hundred bucks for every time he's dropped on the ice, and a thousand dollar bonus for exiting with the trainer. I hadn't seen these, but I agree. We don't know what Swankler went through or is going through, and even if he did put the staff/team in a bad position, there's no place for headhunting or purposefully injuring a college kid. Frankly, we won of a heck of a lot more games that we probably should have because of his skill and talent. I hate the way it ended, but I'm glad he spent time here.BGDrew wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 12:37 pmThere’s been a lot of pretty abhorrent s**t posted on this website. My bounty comment was tongue in cheek but I can see how it could be taken in a negative light.BillyLP wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 12:50 pmI hadn't seen these, but I agree. FWIW, I was told by an extremely reliable source this evening that they believe the stories about the team petitioning Swankler to get off the team are accurate. In their opinion from who they have spoken with, it appears Swankler is essentially trying to burn down the program in retaliation while targeting the three players who initiated the petition.

Sounds like a real s**t show...
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Offseason 2023
Unfortunately, if the petition story is true, it must likely means there's some meat to the hazing. Petition is close to the last step in getting rid of someone. Usually, you just bully the crap out of them to make it known they are no longer welcome and they take the hint to move on.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 7:32 pm FWIW, I was told by an extremely reliable source this evening that they believe the stories about the team petitioning Swankler to get off the team are accurate. Then again, if I was still in the locker room, it'd be real hard not to "leak" some wild s**t to see what people would run with. It'd be hard to even fake talk about what's going on in the room (reason #1 I'm pissed at Swankler), but I could definitely see the fun in it.
