We knew that at the time, but the AD was busy hiring two new basketball coaches. I figured this would get pushed back one more season.

Now, with the hockey allegations, who knows where the AD's attentions will be, but my guess is they'll be split between football and hockey. Assuming the worst and he has to hire two more new coaches, he absolutely needs to get these right, given the amount of potential revenue involved.

No idea which of those coaching candidates would be better, but I do like the idea of taking away one of UT's top assistant coaches.

Mel Tucker

Pros...connections in MW, knows how the portal works

Cons...does phone sex...what? why? When you make almost 10 mil a year and you can't find a live woman to hang with...I question your abilities as a recruiter
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Positives
Offensive side of the ball
OC for one of the best offenses in College football so far
OC at Fresno St for 3 years
Lots of Energy
OL coach
Sounds a bit like Steve Zahn, who is likable
Coached in MAC, EMU 2014-2016

Negative
Never been a HC
It's possible you are wrong and don't like Steve Zahn
Experience mostly out west

Nevermind, I didn't realize how high profile he is. Already making 2 million a year and Alabama wanted to hire him last year as OC. He ain't coming here.
We haven't ruled out this guy, have we?

Steve Zahn, Actor
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Zahn

Pros
Likeable
Sounds a lot like Ryan Grubb, Washington OC
Is married to the daughter of J. Peterman

Cons
Some people don't like him
His salary is pretty high - we might not be able to afford him
No head coaching experience
Is not related to journalist and newscaster Paula Zahn

Conclusion
I like him. I say we make him an offer.

It seems like easy money. Other than to call people and gauge unofficial interest before the job officially opens I can't imagine that we couldn't take 5 of us in here and add a recent same-conference college football player at our level (I'd grab one from Toledo to be honest), work for 3 days, have one meeting, and hand a list of 10 people to a school to interview with complete ease. I guess like most things they are selling their connections

Playing Cincy right now. BYU is 3-1. D looks good.
A possible OC would be BYU's TE coach who was Hill's OC at Weber St
A possible DC would be BYU's LB coach who was Hill's DC at Weber St
