Re: How many wins would you need to want SL back?
Want back or accept that he’s back? I’d accept it with 8 wins. I’d want it with 9.

After watching OU I just can't fathom how this team could look good ever again.

I'd need 8, but my guess is another six win season with a bowl berth probably keeps him around again despite the expectations he set for himself.

That’s my guess too.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 10:54 am I'd need 8, but my guess is another six win season with a bowl berth probably keeps him around again despite the expectations he set for himself.

For me it also depends on how close the losses are. If we lose to Miami, Toledo, or a Directional Michigan by a field goal I wouldn't hold it against him. If we lose by 30+ like Ohio, that'll be much more obvious that Loeffler is problem.

I thought at least 7-8 before the season started. Staying with that....we have 7 left and he has to win at least 5 of them.

I'll never want him back. They can win every game on the schedule and I'll want to be rid of him because I don't like the type of football he's trying to play.
That said he would likely "earn" his way back with winning 6 of the final 7. Even though I don't like the football style, nor do I have belief in him, I'd say if they finished up with 8 wins he would deserve to be back. I think he WILL be back if he wins 3 or more of the final 7.
I'm with Critical Thinker in a lot of respects though. THe margins of how HORRID we lose so frequently just piss me off to no end. I don't see how you can continue to employ a coach who routinely has his teams blown out by 20+ points in multiple conference games every season. I absolutely LOVE those wins like Saturday or Minnesota, or the UT wins, etc, but cannot fathom how we pull those off then get routinely pounded in conference play.

If this team played like the Ga Tech game consistently and went 6-6 I'd be fine with that.
Re: How many wins would you need to want SL back?
If this team played like they did on Saturday they wouldn't go 6-6. If they did that consistently they'd probably be a 10 win team.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 2:47 pm If this team played like the Ga Tech game consistently and went 6-6 I'd be fine with that.
No turnovers, and finish +3 in TO Margin? 25 carries over 5ypc for your lead back? 8ypa on 65% completions from your QB?
Yeah, you won't lose many games playing like that. THey played so well that I wouldn't even expect that to be the "norm" simply because showing up at the top of your game every week is impossible. It's the swings of playing like that to the complete opposite from one week to the next that needs to stop.

I don't care for Scot...all coaches tend to speak in cliches...but the way he does it just bugs the living hell out of me. If he were a great coach with a great team, I could put up with it...but he's been bad to..at best...mediocre in his time here. I think he's somehow both bland and offensive.

I couldn't agree more. I watched his press conference from today & it bugged the hell out of me as well.Flipper wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 4:46 pm I don't care for Scot...all coaches tend to speak in cliches...but the way he does it just bugs the living hell out of me. That said, if we win 5 of our last 7 to finish 7-5, I could live with him coming back ... IF we are competitive in the losses. As others have mentioned, if we lose by 30 to Miami and Toledo and win the other 5 games, I think I would still want him gone. Ever since he's gotten here, he's talked about how good we were gonna be in Year 5. Time to show it, week in and week out.
Re: How many wins would you need to want SL back?
I think Scot is hilarious, even if it’s not on purpose all the time. That’s the #1 thing about his personality that sticks out to me.
I also think he gets this community. I mean, he was rocking an LT t-shirt at his presser this week. And he knows that beating Toledo is a huge priority - and he’s done it multiple times. And he’s showing up at women’s basketball games and playing the cowbell and everything else. He cares about BGSU.
If he were able to get us to play more consistent, I think he would be beloved here. I think his talk rubs people the wrong way sometimes because we don’t always back it up on the field.
I’m gonna ride with the guy until he’s not here anymore. His teams can drive me nuts, but he’s a good dude and I respect that he is giving it his best shot here. Even if it’s infuriating half the time. Lol
