Up next...Buffalo

Post by Flipper »

We open as 5.5 pts underdogs

This game could define the season. Lose and you go to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference. Makes even getting to .500 overall let alone above it a very tough task. The MAC East title is already off the table.

This portion of the schedule ( UB, BSU, Akron and Kent) will likely determine if Scot sticks around another year. Get to five wins and I think we're stuck with him. Finish with four or less and I would hope they make a change.

Not related to BG..but this clip cracks me up (WARNING CONTAINS NSFW LANGUAGE)

Need to win at least 3 of the next 4 to have any shot at a bowl game. Guess we’ll see.

Only thing I'm curious about is how the team responds after laying another fat egg. Team's mission was to get to Detroit and that ain't happening, so you're playing for pride and a crappy bowl game. Bulls looked good against CMU, they may be turning a corner after a horrid start to the season. Expecting a close loss.

A close loss would be something new. It’s rarely win, or generally get the doors blown off for this coach who can see into the future.

No reason we don't win the next 4, get back to basics & run a balanced attack at these guys

Scot is 9-22 against the MAC. The losses are by an average of right around 30 pts. In 2021...he had losses by 7 and 8. Everything else has been 15 pts or better. He's managed to lose 18 MAC games by 24 points or better.

History does not suggest a close loss...maybe a close win.. he's 5-5 over the past two seasons in MAC play. The average win is by 7 pts..16 being the biggest last year against CMU. The losses have been by an average of just over 29 pts.

Looking at that...it's hard to argue that he doesn't suck

I'd say it's pretty much four wins in a row or bust at this point.

DJ Irons tore his ACL...Akron should be a W

A few more QB injuries away from a bowl game and another extension.

2 years ago we had just beaten Minnesota and were a 14 point home favorite against Zippy. Jumped out to a 13-0 lead, their starting QB goes down with an injury and it looks like we will cruise to an easy win. The backup QB comes in and shreds us and we walk away with a lopsided loss. We were their only FBS win that entire season. Forgive my lack of faith, but I just can't ever take anything for granted when it comes to assumed wins for this program.

Akron's starting QB last week against NIU was Tahj Bullock. Played in one game in his two years at VA Tech before entering the portal last spring. He was a *** recruit in HS. Also on the roster is Jeff Undercuffler...he was the back up last year and has played some this year.

Taking nothing for granted is probably the best course of action with this team

Dave Clawson told him that is okay.

Once again why did he get an extension? What damage would’ve been done to make him come out and prove it in his last year of the contract. Could he not have been trusted to keep recruiting? Would he just tank the season intentionally?

Saying that is just the industry standard isn’t acceptable. To give him a raise of any sort was asinine as well. Put a raise in a MAC Championship bonus and make the guy earn it.

Hey Coach….you may want to hand the ball to Terion Stewart and then run some play-action off that? Might be a better option than having your QB stand back there making slow developing reads with a mediocre pass blocking line in front of him?

Yep I was in full agreement with this then and now. Yesterdays practices of doing this or that because it’s the way it’s always been done are over because of transfer rules and NIL. The guy has had a handful of nice wins but several handfuls of ugly ones.

And now we just had a player hit the portal. Wonder what that’s about.

Steve Lubischer was a transfer in from Boston College this past summer, and now he’s gone.

Who knows. Looks like he never saw the field so far this year. Not on the depth chart. He could very well be graduating as he was a freshman in 2019 at BC. Took a redshirt there in 2020. Has a senior year to play elsewhere and get a graduate degree, perhaps.
