I look for this to be another lopsided and embarrassing loss.

At this point, it would be all but criminal to bring SL back. He simply is not a very good coach, and certainly not a coach who can get you to MAC title games and wins.

Unless they win out, I don't see him staying. In fact, the decision may have already been made or will be after this week's game.

Bottom line: Year 5. If SL was indeed a QB guru, we should have a legit starter that wins games, and 1 that is almost equal, and another that is a season away. That is what I was sold on would happen, when he sat at our table. We have not been anywhere near there, including now. QBS win games. Period. There’s hundreds of coaches that can do everything right, except find and keep good QBS. That’s the swirling carousel of coaches regurgitated every year. Find a legit QB guy.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

I was shocked during his post game presser...he talked about all the open big gaining plays that were missed. It's like he said "I coached good...thye played bad" So lame...

Like most of college and professional football...the MAC is a QB league. Best QB wins or comes close to it. We are not there...in year FIVE

Had the same takeaway. Basically laying blame at execution as opposed to admitting the game plan or the overall scheme sucks. But that takes self-awareness. Then there's him acting all frustrated as if what's going on is some sort of new development. It all came off insincere. Don't want to see anyone lose their job but we're in the fourth iteration of this movie and the plot hasn't changed one bit.

Put Matt Johnson on this team and I bet we still struggle. The play calling is the problem. I think Orth could be a winning qb here. He’s not going blow you away passing but he’s a good enough runner to make you respect it and open the pass. Instead they bring him in trying to be cute and everyone over the age of 5 knows what play he’s doing. …GT game he called quick hitters with motion that got talented players the ball in space quickly. Hogan and Stewart looked like all MAC players then this week they were hardly part of the game plan and the calls were predictable.

This is BGSU. You can diagnose the X’s O’s all you want. This is the stuff that explains 13-29 contract extensions. This is the stuff that matters as much as anything why BGSU is where it is. It matters way way more than it should.

How is it nepotism for the kid to be on the team? Would you rather the kid go elsewhere? Any kid of a BGSU employee won't need an athletic scholarship, so usually they are a walk-on. In the case of Elsasser, he was actually pretty good (not stellar, but good). It's not like a walk-on is taking the spot of some other deserving kid, hence the term walk-on. For all you know, he might actually be pretty good. Considering what we've seen on the field as of late, maybe we need some walk-ons to be out on the field. Too bad this kid doesn't play DB and we could tell Ferguson to go commit personal fouls at home.

Yeah...I have zero issue with the AD's kid being on the team...you have 105 roster spots. The Elsasser thing seemed weird, but he did a decent enough job when he played.

Yes, I would prefer he not be on the team like the Univeristy of Arizona and every other Division 1 school decided his talent level was not worthy of a roster spot. Even his previous college did not evaluate his talent as roster worthy. But, of course BGSU did. Maybe Loeffler could use the 105th roster spot on a quarterback with no affiliation with Boston College.

While we are at it I would have preferred Elsasser not play at BGSU. Instead the fan base wasted its money and time on a favor. A favor that produced multiple contract extensions, a buyout, and four seasons of consistent underachieving. These are really expensive favors BGSU can’t seem to figure out can be fixed rather easily with some higher standards.

Our remaining opponents:

2-4 Buffalo
1-5 Akron
1-5 Ball State
1-5 Kent State
5-1 Toledo
2-4 Western Michigan

No reason we can’t go at least 4-2 and make a bowl game. And if we don’t, there will be no more debate and we will absolutely have to move on. The MAC is dreadful, and we’re still yet to be competitive. Either we flip the script or it’s over.

Wow
Offense EPA & Success Rate is just putrid. Quite comical. Basically the team doesn't move the ball when it should and fails to keep drives going.

I have no idea how many drives are killed by penalties or sacks...but I bet it's pretty high. Our game planning seems...off. Last week we didn't give Stewart a carry until our 2nd or 3rd drive IIRC. That's just wrong...

ESPN gives us about a 47% chance of winning....

They call plays like they want to punt.
