Not the most exciting schedule but not much we can do this year. Northern classic should be helpful playing winning programs like Asheville and Lowell. Bellarmine wasn't great last year but they did win the asun tournament in 2022. I assume the last home game will be a d2 team after Christmas. Frack game has to be fixed next season

Schedule is garbage as expected. Have to start winning and make it worth the time to play you. Plus playing Huger for his Covid contract extension factors in too. It’s a multiple years of incompetence clean up off the court.

I'm actually OK with the soft schedule. New team could use some cupcake games to gel together, and regardless of opponents, a strong winning percentage will bring people and energy to the Stroh for the MAC games and build external confidence in the new regime (i.e. bring back the fair-weather fans) and get some momentum rolling with this program.

I do agree though that I'd very much hope to see a stronger non-conference schedule next year.

Even with Siena Heights, which has no place on the schedule, this is a fairly solid build towards the MAC and significantly better than anything we've seen in a number of years.

Still headed North but opponents have changed. Dartmouth and UMass Lowell dropped out and now BG plays W. Ky {BG vs BG), Lipscomb, and Canisius.

I understand there was a closed scrimmage v Wright State this weekend. Does anyone have any information on how that went?

IIRC, nobody in the conference was in the top 100. and that 208 ranking had us like 5th in the MAC overall.

The entire league is weak as hell.

They’re doing something on Thursday, October 26 at 7:00pm with both the men’s and women’s teams. They’re calling it a showcase, which is vague. But yes. Some type of preseason event is happening.

Yeah wish I could make it but it conflicts with the first night of my kids basketball practice. Wouldn't make it down there til 7:30 at earliest so I probably will just wait to hear reports.

In decent years the preseason stuff has been more about dunk contests and similar fluff...less actual competitive 5v5 play.

Kids soccer training got moved indoors last night and man hearing shoes on the gym floor has me ready for some hoops.

Exactly. Simon is establishing a new program and working with many new players from various places. He'll need to establish relationships for recruiting in Ohio and Michigan. This is not the year for a tough schedule. Let these guys establish some cohesiveness and confidence.
