vs. Akron (10/21)

Post by mbenecke »

It’s Family Weekend, and our Falcons will be home against the 1-6 Akron Zips.

Game kicks off at 2:00pm on ESPN+. Per an announcement video this morning, BG will be rocking their classic LT helmets for this one - it’s the “20th anniversary” of College Gameday coming to town, and there is a commemorative bobblehead giveaway for the occasion.

Gotta get this one. Come on, BG!

Good deal about the helmets. My metrics have BG -13.5. See what Vegas says later today.

Next three are against the worst in the MAC and almost the three worst programs in college football. I'd still expect to see BG drop one of them, probably Kent just because of the offense they run.

Love it. Always thought something like the Texas A&M jerseys (Brown instead of Maroon) with an orange helmet that has the old falcon would look awesome

The old Falcon logo was supposed to stay in rotation when the new logo was introduced. Removing it completely was a Greg Christopher decision. Also made all the teams order uniforms in that awful font that no one could read. He and his crew were really bad at their jobs.

I’d love to dump the current logo and bring back the old logo across the board

For anyone who wasn't aware and is interested in LT logo merch, Elite Collegiate Apparel is in that shopping plaza on Wooster, directly across from the stadium. They have a selection of items that includes Nike branded stuff, which is very pricey but also non-branded garb that's very reasonably priced.

Ferguson was named MAC East defensive POW. 5 tackles, 2 INTs, 2 PBUs against UB.

Well earned. A few of his anticipations on screen passes may have been just as valuable as the INTs.

When Ferguson keeps his mouth shut and just plays? He can be a beast. But his mouth gets him in trouble too often, esp for a SR. I hope he's learned to just play....just shut up and play.

:supz: :supz: :supz: :supz: That logo is the best ever....

Christopher was the 1st of 3 really awful AD's in a row....Christopher, Kingston and Moose. The Three Stooges.

Vs Akron...the Zips should have lost to Morgan State at home and yet took Indiana to 4 OT's in Bloomington. They lost a tough one at CMU Sat by 7 after getting obliterated at home vs NIU, 55-14. I think they have problems stopping the run so let's see another steady diet of the Bully and Keith show. Freakling 2, who is now an Akron Grad, always pulls for the Falcons...except against the Zips. We're leaving bright and early to get to The Doyt by 10. After what happened two years ago against Akron, I don't take anything for granted & don't wanna hear him talk smack all the way back to the Rubber City again!

I hate feeling uneasy playing Akron at home. I say 28-17 bg wins

Zips have a good defense. Force a lot of 3rd and long situations. Early downs are going to be key for the offense to have success. BG's offense is not built to recover when it gets off schedule. Plenty to feel uneasy about simply based on how up and down the Falcons are.

Weather is looking a bit wet with a stiff breeze, so I'd expect both teams to focus on the run game with a score total somewhere in the 30s.
