WMU (vs. 10/20, @10/21)
Re: WMU (vs. 10/20, @10/21)
I’d have very mixed feelings on Pearson. From a hockey perspective, it’s great. But he’s kind of a scumbag. So from a moral perspective, that would be hard.
I don’t care if we hire an alumnus. I just want someone that will win, and that will do it in a way that we can be proud of - not someone that will have us embroiled in scandals like we’re in right now.

This isn't the school that will take a chance on Pearson.mbenecke wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 7:45 am I’d have very mixed feelings on Pearson. From a hockey perspective, it’s great. But he’s kind of a scumbag. So from a moral perspective, that would be hard.

Correct. It is the school that will bring Buddy Powers back in a volunteer role. Hire Buddy's kid to coach golf. Two different worlds.Tricky_Falcon wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 8:17 amThis isn't the school that will take a chance on Pearson.mbenecke wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 7:45 am I’d have very mixed feelings on Pearson. Pearson would probably command too much salary to ever coach here. Likely no one ever touches him again in the NCAA given the issues he had at Michigan. No administration would want to explain that decision regardless of how good of a coach he might be. Look at what happened to Babcock with the Blue Jackets. That hire was panned by nearly everyone and it ended like most thought it was going to.
BG was an attractive job before this. Safe to assume Eigner doesn't survive whatever is going on. We'll see how attractive it is following everything. Silver lining is you can rebuild a program in a shorter timeframe now thanks to the transfer portal. Your best candidate is someone well connected to junior programs and can manage at a school with limited resources. Not sure a NCHC assistant would be the best option given those constraints. Someone like Matt Smaby or Anthony Noreen from the USHL may be worth a look.

I don't care if he had a leg amputated...you play the game the way it's supposed to be played. Other teams aren't going to be so...nice.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 9:11 pmGuy just came off missing most of two seasons with a brutal injury. You're not crashing him hard. Even the freshman tried to avoid contact when they got close. Only reason he's not here is the complete disruption to recruiting it would cause (Stoever was gone if he came back).
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Tiki Bar had ZERO to do with the situation, so quit taking unnecessary shots at it in your posts. Clearly the incident happened at one of the off campus houses, or are you too dense to connect the dots? Did you ever happen to think that the players who have been suspended were roommates and the "hosts" of the alleged incident at their house.guest44 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 7:13 am Pearson would turn it around quick, but not a chance in hell BGSU would have the stones to make that hire. This fan base will beg and plead for another alum of some form regardless of how mediocre they may be. Pearson would have the fan base furious.
I still can’t believe Stoever could essentially dictate what Rose does. That’s not Patrick Roy back there. He lost to Robert Morris and Augustana in back to back weeks. Meanwhile, the conference co-player of the year left 3 weeks before the season courtesy of the Tiki Bar fiasco. Piss poor leadership always starts at the top.
Common sense would dictate that if Rose stayed, Stoever wouldn't have had as much playing time, which is clearly what he would have wanted. It wasn't possible to keep both and also bring in Moore. Rose had 1 year left and a history of injuries, Stoever had 2 years left and has been healthy almost his entire career. In my opinion it wasn't a hard decision on whom a coach would keep in that situation.

Thanks for the update. Wh
I'd have found a way to keep Rose around. He has been really good when healthy. He beat both Stoever and Moore this last weekend with a borderline club team. I'd have run off the other goalies on the roster.
Thanks for the update. I was not aware of the hockey players living arrangements nor would I ever care. When can we expect some conclusion to this? Will Ty Eigner coach at BGSU again?vwfalcon wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 2:35 pmTiki Bar had ZERO to do with the situation, so quit taking unnecessary shots at it in your posts. Extra year due to covid. Doesn't stop recruiting. Injuries were a part of it, but it becomes a numbers game when you already have Stoever and Evola on the roster with Moore coming in.guest44 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 3:03 pm Thanks for the update. It doesn't stop recruiting. However if the talent continues to diminish with each class you might want to hold on to what you got.

Re: WMU (vs. 10/20, @10/21)
I'd push back on Rose's importance. He played in a total of 32 games in four seasons. Some of that was impacted by covid. Stoever has already played in 62 in 2+ years.
2021-2022 comparison:
Rose 9-5-2, 3.34 GAA, .886 SV%
Stoever 20-32-3, 2.87 GAA, .906 SV%
Rose's W-L is better, but he got better "run support" in his games than Stoever did. The right decision was made in light of Moore coming in, and where the track record was with who gives the team better overall goaltending.

Re: WMU (vs. 10/20, @10/21)
Terry Burton, who is active on social media and seems to understand much of what’s going on in and around the program at all times (and is therefore someone I trust), posted today that an announcement on the hazing investigation is expected today.

Almost one month to the day. Hoping for a positive conclusion, but expecting bad news.

Mike McMahon and the College Hockey News Twitter account have both posted that and announcement is expected today, and that Ty will be returning to the team.
Huge news.

If Eigner is indeed back, does that have any impact on Swankler's portal transfer thing or does him sitting out this semester take care of that?
