In that article Bob doesn't sound like a guy that only has months left in his tenure at BG as it was suggested on here.

Orangeandbrown put it this way right after the blowout home loss to Buffalo in men's basketball: "I don't believe Moos is in any trouble at all. 0%."Tricky_Falcon wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 1:58 pm In that article Bob doesn't sound like a guy that only has months left in his tenure at BG as it was suggested on here.
Re: 50th Anniversary and Arena Renovation Plans
Notice the article said they had $5million for the renovations. $2 million from Slater and $3 million from “donations and other sources”. Yeah wonder what those “other sources” are?
Sounds like the Slater family donated $2 million, they got $3 million from the University capital budget, and they have to raise the rest. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for much to get done.

You guys are gonna have one of the best rinks in the country once this is done, imo. Excited to see how this turns out.

Any word on if this is now underway?
I see Augustana posted info about their brand new facility. Between this and St Thomas’ brand new building there is going to be a little bit of an arms race in this conference coming up…..not sure how Ferris is going to stay competitive….They are going to have the worst facilities in the league and the gap is widening rapidly.

DVDM shared some arena updates in the latest Falcon Insider. Sounds like it's still a ways off.

Capacity of the Slate would go from 5,000 to roughly 5,120. Isn't there a fire marshal constraint on the number of people who can be in the building?I am excited to report we are in the final phase of design for the new premium space at the Slater Family Ice Center. We are excited to update you that this area will have four suites (two with 18 seats, and two with 12 seats), 44 club seats, 12 rail seats with 14-16 seats. The additional elements that will be part of this design include:
• A dedicated entry to ice arena on game days
• A new ticket office in the arena
• An elevator for access to the mezzanine of area
• New display areas to showcase the history and people of BGSU hockey
• A new external storefront for the primary entrance to the arena with a small plaza
Construction of the new space is expected to begin this fall for portions of the project and continue through next year. In the near future, we will begin the process of selling suites and seats in the new area and will be initiating a fundraising campaign for naming opportunities and other enhancements.
New for the 2023-2024 hockey season, we are installing around 330 chair back seats in Section C of the Slater Family Ice Arena. We are working to find innovative ways to enhance your comfort and overall experience in the arena. This pilot program in Section C will be the first phase as we assess the demand and scale for chair backs. See more information about these seats and your opportunity to purchase HERE.

Re: 50th Anniversary and Arena Renovation Plans
That's determined by building code. Basically, as long as there's enough doors and a wide enough path to get to them you cram as many more fans in as you want. I wouldn't expect 120 extra people in the building to require any alterations, unless the renovations reduce the concourse width.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 9:50 am Capacity of the Slate would go from 5,000 to roughly 5,120. Does anyone have any idea/info on when this is actually starting? Feel like this just keeps dragging on and on and on.
Re: 50th Anniversary and Arena Renovation Plans
Company my brother works for said they were putting in a bid on it. Not sure if that was already done, they were working on putting it together, or what.bgsumepley wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 12:46 pm Does anyone have any idea/info on when this is actually starting?
