Problems at Tech?

Post by pdt1081 »

It’s being reported that Michigan Tech Head Coach Joe Shawhan is being investigated for allegations of player abuse and racism.
The video below was posted on the Instagram account CCHAWatch of a conversation between ex-player Patriks Marcinkevics and Shawhan.

The poster pmus33 is Packy Munson, a former goalie, who left Tech early.

Oof! Shawhan is a scumbag, so this isn’t surprising.

Scumbag? I’m guessing you have never met him? There are quite a few scumbags in college athletics…Shawhan is not one of them.

Speaking of scumbags in college athletics. BGSU let its' scumbag assist in ruining the majority of major sports until he was able to finally find another job. BGSU had the worst kind of scumbag, a total failure of a scumbag. Thankfully, most of the Kit turds have been flushed.

The dude started a fight in a handshake line as a coach. Wouldn’t describe him as a stand up guy.

According to Mike McMahon, seems as if the situation has been handled by Tech and there doesn't appear to be any discipline forthcoming for Shawhan, at least publicly.

You mean this fight in the handshake line? Nah, it's standard procedure for coaches to behave in this manner. Clearly you've never met him :-/

Let's take this for what's worth regardless of anything else.

A student-athlete illegally recorded a conversation with a coach to bait him into saying something then releases audio. Student athlete gets off scott free and everyone piles on the coaches comments.

Have seen this happen several times and know coaches that when they meet with athletes phones is turned off and placed on the desk before the meeting even starts. Illegally recording is a problem at the HS and college level.....then information is leaked on purpose without any repercussions toward the person who recorded.

Not saying his comments are acceptable but recording and baiting people into comments are not good. In the court of law this would be known as obtaining evidence illegally and not admissible.

It's an odd situation for sure. Not sure he had to bait him much, if at all. Coach says kid left to pursue a pro career in Latvia, kid says "no, I didn't" and is still enrolled in school.

Then, of course, I'm sitting here looking at the fact he averaged a point a game playing at Long Island last season, wondering if he's going to hit the portal at the semester break...... hey Ralfs, give this kid a call.

I'm not sure how our young Falcons survived thru getting "iced". I'm pretty sure a 13 year old could easily drink one of those haha!

Swankler completely tried to burn the program because he was caught stealing, just like many of us figured.

Pulled a Michigan. Self-inflicted acts and tries to paint himself as the victim. What a POS.

Are you referring to what the university released or is there a different report? Link?
