He was 3/11 passing. We would have been better off taking a knee on his drives to kill off 2 minutes before punting.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:48 pm Orth was the issue. Bazelek easily wins that game. Ridiculous.

I know it was a decent team we played but that game is just the perfect display of SL. Really dumb decisions at critical times, an atrocious offensive line and has never had a great QB. Maybe you just can’t recruit at BG. Maybe it’s a lost cause but how do we always have a terrible O line?

The LT got hurt and I'm not sure if he came back in. But it seemed like from that point on, the pressure was getting through faster.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:55 pm Giving up the td and bad play calling is the biggest issue. That and pass blocking.

Bazelak wasn’t available to end the game.
Globe, now isn’t the time to troll people in your own fanbase. It’s a complete jerk move. You know I like you and think you’re funny, but keep it to yourself right now. People that care about the football program are frustrated right now.
Basketball lost by 20. Go start a coaching thread over there or something.

Re: Beat Toledo
Keith and Fannin weren't hurt but we didn't use them at all the second half. Inexcusable play calling
Re: Beat Toledo
Wow was that pathetic. How do you not just keep everything in front of you. 4th down but the clock was against them. They one thing you could not do was give up a big play. Just terrible Defensive coaching and execution.
Football and hockey both need coaching upgrades apparently.

He is not the coach that will get you back into MAC title games. We've seen his best and this year is probably as high as he can take the program.Hammer wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:56 pm I know it was a decent team we played but that game is just the perfect display of SL. There has to be a change if they want to move up.

We could’ve bled that entire second half away and won. Toledo never looked all that great, they just hung around because we had so many wasted possessions using no clock.Falconwriter wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:58 pmHe is not the coach that will get you back into MAC title games. Re: Beat Toledo
They were dinged up/in and out of the game. Fannin was obviously limping on the last drive, and Keith had to be managed after leaving with an injury last week and being used so much tonight.
Would’ve been nice to have Stewart out there tonight. Quite a few short yardage situations where I was confident we could’ve given it to him to pick it up if he was healthy. Bummer to not have 4.

Re: Beat Toledo
Is there no one else we could have given ball to with a fighting chance at gaining 3 yards? Orth was clearly not prepared tonight and all the incompletions and clock stopping ****** away the game.mbenecke wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 11:01 pmThey were dinged up/in and out of the game. Re: Beat Toledo
Fannin's last touch was on our last touchdown drive. Our last run play for outside of Orth was with 11:35 to go in the 4th. They could have been banged up but they were out there. We didn't run a lot of screens either in the second half with toledo blitzing. The play calling difference in each half is the prefect summary of why this team is so up and down and it's frustrating. We were the better team and we should have won. We want to be a running team but can't run when it matters
Re: Beat Toledo
Because an offensive line has never been recruited and developed. Plain and simple.fanatic13 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 11:27 pm Fannin's last touch was on our last touchdown drive. Re: Beat Toledo
I was not impressed with Toledo. Our offensive line just collapsed in the 2nd half. I don’t know if it was an issue of conditioning or not coaching proper technique but time after time our linemen looked like their feet were stapled to the turf while the defensive player directly in front of them simply ran around them while they stood like a statute. Doesn’t matter who is at QB, RB or WR if the defense comes through the O line like an avalanche the offense isn’t going to have any success at all. No excuse for having this caliber of offensive line on the field in year 5.

Re: Beat Toledo
The Orth fumble changed the game. BG scores there and a Toledo comeback is extremely difficult.
Too many people throwing the coaches under the bus. Toledo made some good adjustments in the 2nd half. Mitchell was on Fannin and completely neutralized him. The OL looked to wear down. BG ran 81 plays. I think it was a curse as those guys up front looked gassed. Losing Kam Stewart was a big blow, along with Bazelak leaving. The Rockets pinned their ears back and took full advantage.
Couple mistakes combined with some poor execution with a backup QB, that was the difference.
Sucks to lose the way it happened but the team fought their tails off.
