Savannah Hoops Invitational

Post by BillyLP »

BG women just tipped off in the first game of the Savannah Hoops Invitational. This isn't set up as a tournament like many of the early season deals. They're playing Mercer right now and will play Lehigh tomorrow morning. Not on TV and can't find a radio stream either, so I'm just following along online.

Mercer and BG starting ice cold. Both are 1-7 from the field and it's 3-3 with 4:30 left in the 1st quarter.

Picked up a little and BG leads 13-7 after the first. Mercer is 1-4 but has played a tough schedule so unsure how much of a test this is for the team.

Radio is on WBGU for the game. Listening and following live stats.

Up 40-20 with 3:30 left in the third. Should be a relatively smooth finish from here.

Falcons roll 59-38. Not the prettiest but not particularly competitive after the first quarter. Lehigh tomorrow at 9am.

Good win...anytime you hold a team to 38 pts is great. Mercer is now 1-5 but it was a solid win.

Whoever's doing the scoring report this morning (11/23) for sidearm sports has team logos for wrong teams. Actually, everything is opposite.

Good game against an unbeaten team. Actually normally would have been for the championship as both teams won their opening match. Lehigh had good overall size and sound shooters. Sharps was hot after a rather slow start and not sure we won without her. Porter, Lexi, and Velasco also with good games. Rebounding was a key and helped us maintain that 6-10 margin in the 4th.
