Jeff Lebby to Starkvegas. Wasn't on the list technically because of the passing of Mike Leach before the season. Miss State went with an interim coach this year.

Zach Arnett was named permanent head coach and got a four year contract before their bowl game last season

Sean Lewis went from failed Kent St coach to failed Colorado OC to HC at SD State.

College football coaching hires are nonsense.

Texas AnM paid 75 million for their coach to go away just to hire his former DC

Sean Lewis took Kent State to 2 bowl games when they had only been to 3 before in their entire program's history, and he got their first bowl win in program history. He got them to the MAC championship game! He wasn't a failure at Kent State. And he also wasn't really the problem at Colorado, either. Their offense got significantly worse when they demoted him from playcalling. That roster, for all the "Louis luggage" Deion said he was bringing, was still a mess - especially on the offensive line and on defense. We would take a coach with Lewis' (Babers') offensive system here in a heartbeat.

Mike Elko is a very good coach and I won't be surprised at all to see him succeed a A&M. We'll see him up close and personal on September 21st.

I'm admittedly biased because I like Sean Lewis and his brand of offense, but I think it's a stretch to call his time at KSU a "failure". He had a winning MAC record, won the East once and was 1-1 in bowl games (only bowl win in school history). Not tremendously successful, obviously, but KSU isn't exactly a good football school. Lewis had 3 straight years > .500 in MAC play, which represents their only back to back winning conference records since 86-87 and the only time its been done 3 straight in the 62 yrs they've been in the MAC. His 3 straight winning records in conf. are the only winning records they've had in 2 decades other than that one crazy Hazell/Dri Archer season in 2012.

As for CU, the elder Sanders is a crackpot so I wouldn't hold anything that happened to him there against him. Deion the super genius demoted the OC that was putting up 32 ppg so he could promote one of the worst offensive coordinators I've ever seen (seriously, Shurmur is like the NFL Clawson; nepotism promotions, boring ass offenses, etc). Not surprisingly that 32ppg became 20 after Deion's brilliance.

I think Lewis is an absolutely top notch offensive mind with a chance of being a good HC. The history of KSU (and they went right back to 1-11 this year) isn't lost on me, to even get that team to mediocrity (and above avg in the MAC), is something of an accomplishment for a program with zero history.

I agree. Lewis is a home run hire for SDSU. Expect him to be successful there pretty quickly. One thing I'd be curious to see is if he hires Matt Johnson away from Kent State. Flashes ditched the up tempo offense this year under Kenni Burns and I think MJ struggled to adapt to that. Nevertheless, Lewis being a P5 program in 3-4 years would not be shocking.

Ooops...I typed "Clawson" when I met "Loeffler"

Shurmur (nor Loeffler) has very little in common with Clawson.

I think Sean Lewis will be a very solid hire. Kent purposely refuses to invest in football. Their approach is they want to have a strong athletic department across the board and will not sacrifice that for football.
Lewis left because he thought they would invest after he showed some success. The administration didn’t and then wanted him to play 3 money games a year. He was smart to get out with a better opportunity at CU.

Elko is a good coordinator. I think he’ll be at A&M for 3ish years before he’s fired. That conference is so tough and only getting tougher with Texas and Oklahoma. He isn’t going to do anything there.
