Nice few days of pick ups. None seem like stretches. Just solid D-1 players.

Winn Sharp and Dillon Robinson have played a lot of football together, and the Anthony Wayne senior duo is looking forward to another several years with each other right down the road in Bowling Green.

Sharp, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound wide receiver, and Robinson, a 6-4, 270-pound offensive lineman, recently announced their verbal commitments to continue their football careers at Bowling Green State University.

“Me and Dillon have known each other pretty much our whole football career, our whole life,” Sharp said. “We both went to Whitehouse Primary, first grade, all the way throughout high school. So it’s a pretty cool thing to go to the same college together.”

A productive summer at different showcases and college camps throughout the state, including BGSU, played a key factor in Sharp and Robinson getting the opportunity to play at the next level for coach Scot Loeffler and the Falcons.

Both players committed to BGSU shortly after the school extended offers to them.

Robinson, the No. 110-ranked player in Ohio in the latest 247Sports rankings, was offered in mid-June and accepted it by late July. Sharp (No. 116) announced his commitment in late June — about a week after he was offered.

“I think both of them sat down and had a good conversation with coach Loeffler and their position coaches,” Anthony Wayne coach Andy Brungard said. “BG came in the spring and had an in-person talk, and then BG watches them work out on our field when we had our college showcase day, and they obviously performed well at camp.

“It’s kind of the trifecta for them to be in front of them several times.”

Robinson and Sharp are BGSU’s third-highest and fourth-highest rated recruits out of seven 2024 commits so far.

The proximity to home and the culture within the program were two of the main reasons why they chose BGSU.

“Definitely the love in the community, the coaching staff, the players there, their academics. I found it really nice,” said Robinson, a third-team All-Northern Lakes League offensive tackle last season.

“I’m very excited,” Sharp said. “Both of my parents [Jeff and Tricia Sharp] went to BGSU, and my dad taught there for a couple years, so to continue the legacy there is going to be really awesome throughout our family.”

The duo’s development has been significant throughout high school, according to Brungard. He said Robinson packed on a significant amount of weight in transitioning from tight end to left tackle.

“With Dillon, you’re getting a weight-room warrior who’s dedicated to making himself as big and as strong as possible,” Brungard said. “I remember sophomore year he tried to play tight end, and we tried to get him to buy in to playing left tackle, and he exploded.

“He gained 60 pounds in an offseason, and obviously had a good season and put on another 15 pounds this past offseason. Coaches see him, they see his size, they see his physicality, and it comes from all the stuff he does in the weight room.”

Meanwhile, Sharp’s speed to go with his size at the wide receiver position certainly stands out. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds at multiple camps in the summer.

“He’s a track guy,” Brungard said. “... That’s just the dedication and everything he’s done with the track team.

“Both of them have kind of earned their spot. Both sophomores that we saw a lot of potential in, and then just blew up because of their hard work.”

RB Cameron Pettaway committed today out of Farmington, MI. Looks like he was lightly recruited and BG was his only offer from what I can find, but he had some big games this year, including a 200+ yard game this past week. He's small and quick and makes some pretty hard cuts, so I could see him finding his way onto the field via kick returns pretty quickly.

Welcome to the Falcons, Cameron.
