There is some acrobatic logic going on with Sean Lewis in this thread. Fine coach, hasn't shown much of anything. Those were his recruits going 1-11 this year.

That was his offense going 4-8.

It's fine if you believe he is talented but hiring a coach from a losing MAC school who got demoted at a losing Colorado says you think your2e smarter than everyone else in the room. It never works. Same with firing Fisher to hire Elko. Or Arkansas rehiring Bobby Petrino.

Funny, I actually think all of those things will work out. I think Lewis will be successful, Elko will do well at A&M and Petrino will improve the offense at Arkansas. Kent State lost just about every starter to the portal last year so it’s not fair to say it was his team that went 1-11. It’s all a crapshoot anyway. We’ll know in a year or two.

Most of the starters for Kent this year were grad students. The best players that Lewis recruited transferred out. Cooper went to Ball State, Cephus to Penn State. Schlee went to UCLA. The guy recruited a lot of talent there.

Colorado went 4-8 because their defense was absolutely atrocious. After he was demoted by Deion, the Buffs averaged 12 less points per game.

SDSU will be a successful program with him.

Sounds like from IU sources that Curt Cignetti has the inside track for the Indiana job. Real possibility someone like Candle doesn't get a P5 job because of conference championship games and the need to get a jump start on the transfer portal.

Very well could be the case. I understood that Candle was a very real candidate for MSU, but ultimately it was decided they wanted a coach with P5 head coaching experience. Not sure what other jobs may change hands. Candle's gig ain't bad with Toledo, though. With all of his performance incentives, he's going to make about $1.5 million this year.

Looking very likely Candle stays at Toledo.

I read Tedford still HC but taking a leave. FSUw named an Acting Head Coach not Interim.

I saw that too, the original report seemed like he was stepping away for good like Jerry Kill did at Minnesota.

I feel much better about our prospects of getting a P5/2 coach now seeing this. Yes they would have to take a paycut but I think a not zero number would be willing to do that for a chance to run a team.

This isn't necessarily the route I would go but it's interesting.

Washingtons WR coach, Kansas OC and others I assumed were out of the running, I don't think that's necessarily the case.
