And that was before he even entered the portal. Enter the "tampering isn't cheating" crowd.

Re: 2024 Offseason
Loeffler was on 97.1 in Detroit this morning, promoting the Quick Lane Bowl. They asked him about the transfer portal, he said they've been meeting with the players individually regarding it, and trying to educate the players on listening to the right people when it comes to making that decision. He said they still have guys who transferred out last year that are now out of college football, and only 22% of their transfers have moved onto bigger schools.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: 2024 Offseason
It's good he has those numbers, and hopefully it also helps when you have guys like Anders and Ferguson who entered the Portal but came back and had great seasons. In the end it all comes down to $$$ though. How much money did Tyrone Broden and Jordan Anderson make, even though they didn't play much? Do some of the guys find it worth moving down the depth chart if they can pull in five or six figures in NIL deals?jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 8:52 am Loeffler was on 97.1 in Detroit this morning, promoting the Quick Lane Bowl. I do wonder why there haven't been any group of five schools that have actually risen up in the NIL era due to billionaire alum/supporters. I recall Charlie Batch making a bit of a tongue-in-cheek offer of $1 million to Caleb Williams a few years back to go to EMU. Why hasn't a school like Miami or Ohio had one of their crazy rich alum step up to do that for their program with multiple players?

Re: 2024 Offseason
I would say at this level if you're going to throw six-figure money at someone it should probably be through men's basketball. Likely to have a greater impact. The ceiling for G5 in football will be getting a playoff berth and probably getting blown out in said game. Last year showed in men's basketball that mid-majors have a much greater opportunity at hitting the jackpot.BillyLP wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 9:25 amIt's good he has those numbers, and hopefully it also helps when you have guys like Anders and Ferguson who entered the Portal but came back and had great seasons. Bangura and Miles Cross are in the portal for Ohio. Two big losses there for the kitties.

Re: 2024 Offseason
4th string QB Hayden Timosciek is in the portal. He’s planning to switch from QB to tight end wherever he ends up.
Best of luck to the young man.

Re: 2024 Offseason
I expected Huskey. Obviously it sucks, but he'll get several P5 offers within the week, I'd guess. I'm also still expecting Oladokun and Fannin to enter for the sake of moving up. Could see Huskey ending up at Maryland, Pitt, WVU or Penn State. All pretty near his hometown.

Especially with Huskey now leaving, these two were our #1 and #2 boundary corners. $hit man. Our DB's unit was loaded and these guys were all underclassmen. We were set for years, and hell now, we won't even have them for the damn bowl.

You can enter the portal and keep playing I think.BGSU33 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 2:29 pmEspecially with Huskey now leaving. Our DB's unit was loaded and these guys were all underclassmen. We were set for years, and hell now, we won't even have them for the damn bowl.
And Jones wasn't starting I don't think so maybe with Huskey leaving he stays.

This is college football now. Don’t get too attached - if they suck, they don’t play and then they transfer. If they’re good, they play well and then they transfer.
Hate it. So much. But that’s college football now.
