Close to home, close to a holiday, beatable P5 opponent, and a decent payout. Other than having Liberty's spot, this is probably the best bowl for us.

Loeffler gave a presser yesterday to open bowl prep.

He expressed some level of confidence in keeping most of our important guys in the fold. I really hope he's right.

Keeping the team together will be paramount. If they can, it will speak volumes to be culture improvements over the past several years.

That's really disappointing. I was hoping he could just run over some Minnesota players in the bowl game. He would be a pretty forceful RB in the NFL if he could stay healthy. Let's hope next year (he is here next year, right?) he can dominate and gain the recognition he deserves.

Next year is TBD. He technically has college eligibility to be here through 2025 if he wants. But he's the type of athlete that feels likely to get calls from P5 teams in the offseason to jump in the portal. Super talented dude, would be huge to keep him in the fold - we just have to be realistic about it.

If he weren't injury-prone I'd agree with you. It'd be great to keep him one more year, get him a solid, healthy 1k yard year and then he can do his grad transfer to a big player and shine.

Is that just a guess or you heard he's out? SL said in the presser yesterday that he still isn't sure if he'll be able to go.

Yeah, curious as well, The game is still three weeks away. If he's already ruled out, it must be more than just a basic twisted ankle. Or worse, he's going to the portal.

I was really excited about the bowl when it was announced, especially with it being against a P5 opponent. The last time I was this excited about a bowl game was probably 2013 vs Pitt, also in Detroit. But with guys jumping ship in the portal, I'm going to wait and see who's even going to be on the team before I make a decision about going. If it's not worth it to them, then it's not worth it to me. I'll wait and see who is actually left come Christmas before I decide. A lot can happen in the next three weeks.

Just a hunch, but I think they've known for weeks that he was done for the year, & have kept it quiet to force our last few opponents to continue to game-plan for him.

I have wondered the same thing and if that’s the case, the running game has suffered major blows with Stewart, Keith and Mosley all out or gone. Our stable of RB’s has been wiped out. Patterson is nowhere near the runner and playmaker that Stewart and Keith are, not even close. He’s serviceable at best. Johnson has hardly played. It also drastically affects the passing game because Keith is the team leader in receptions and is second in receiving yards.

The last time we beat 2 power 5 teams in the same season was 2015. I definitely like our chances. Minnesota had to beg Kramer to come back to play in the bowl game. They had no other QBs.
