I saw something that said construction would be starting in the spring, however, I wasn't sure if that was left over from a year ago.

Because Moosbrugger drug his feet on it.
And his kid is still getting free tuition from BGSU.

Looks like the deadline for re-bids was late August for the arena renovations and roof replacement. Depends on what budget year the projects have been allocated for. I'd wager Q2 2024.

I have not heard who has been awarded the bid. Being roughly 60 days past bids being due, if that has not happened yet it's because of a continuance of the mismanagement of this project, and the bids are no longer accurate for material prices.

Preliminary work should start as soon as enough components are ready. We've had two projects (refinery shutdowns) push a full year due to components being unavailable on time. Any work that may disrupt the ice won't start until May 1st,

Supposedly, the main entrance to the Ice Arena is going to be moved sometime during the month of November. I guess this is needed for construction to start.

The new entry design is bland and forgetable. Let's hope the interior didn't get value engineered as bad.

I feel like it’s a huge upgrade to simply modernize the entrance area. The lobby currently is charming, but in an “I’ve been here for 60 years” kind of way.

Showing any level of investment and commitment to the hockey program gives me confidence that we still care about the program and won’t hesitate to make necessary changes if this year goes like the past 2 have.

The ice arena gets a ton of usage, not just for BG hockey. I see it as an investment into the NW Ohio hockey community at large where obviously the program reaps some of the benefit. The ice at Tam O' is crap, Ice House was renovated over covid and is a better place than it used to be, but it's still kind of a dump. Keeping the Slate modern is a win for everyone.

You don't need a flashy barn to distract from the product on the ice. The best hockey is played in old, bland barns.

The good news is, our barn is old and loud, even when the hockey isn’t great.

Yup. Gimme Joe Louis over Little Caesars any day if we're strictly talking about the product.

It's a hockey rink. Fewer and fewer around with the newer multi-purpose buildings becoming the norm, and I love it.

Updates to the players lounge. Looks pretty cool. I'm guessing this is the corner where the jersey case used to be?
