A great game with the usual terrible MAC officiating. Thankfully in the second half we started to make some free throws. This team really needs Towns back. But, credit to Simon and the 7 guys who played for gutting this win out. PJ Edwards is starting to show more confidence.

The concessions were completely predictable. The person who makes the schedule smartly times $1 night on a Tuesday with college students and local schools still on break. Meanwhile, the BGSU administration is still sleeping on break and can’t staff it or adapt from the usual posts of I’m too important to help. You can hire a new AD, that new AD can tweet all day. It doesn’t change a lazy culture of lifers. Spoiled culture who just showed up and watched the concourse be blocked with lines and did little to help.
You should have offered to help instead of stabbing a picture of Kit Hughes at home

That’s the job of the paid employees of Bowling Green State University. I paid for my tickets and enjoyed the game from my seats. I learned long ago to just eat and drink well before the game. Did anyone see if either Elsasser or Moosbrugger’s kids were offering assistance as part of the free tuition?

Hmm....I wonder if I have been getting them and just missing them. I'm not good about reading the stuff that goes to my promotions folder.

I guess gone are the days when we plan to eat dinner on dollar concessions. I was glad one of the ladies that delivers food to the floor seats handed the kids some free popcorn boxes in the 2nd half. The $1 size boxes that both concession stands claimed were gone in the first half (North Side before opening tip).

Waited in line for a total of 40ish minutes and missed the first 15:00 of the game (seemingly should be happy based on score) to get 3 sodas (the first 2 of which were plain soda water), and 3 hot dogs. What a cluster.

It's just really frustrating because ultimately there is no obligation to HAVE a $1 night. But when you advertise it, and it's historically been a happy time for my kid, it sucks when they ruin it.
I usually get the survey the day after the game. It's sent to the email on my BG ticket account and it comes from [email protected]. I haven't gotten the one for the EMU game yet, but I've gotten one for every game thus far. It's nice that they keep asking for feedback. In fact, they've asked for feedback for any event I attend.

I just got my survey at 10:02 AM. If you didn't get one, I may be able to put a link to the survey (unless it's tied to my specific email address).

I also just received my survey and filled it out. I didn’t have any issues, but I advocated for what I heard on here.

Sitting behind the bench last night, I saw a lot of good things I would miss otherwise.

Jason Spurgin high fiving every single member of the bench and then also all the kids in the front row of the section behind the bench was awesome.

Greg Spurgin and Sam Towns were both keeping the energy high on the bench, telling guys to communicate and yelling out screens and whatnot. Good to see the culture start to form. The refs told our players and staff multiple times to sit down because they were having too much fun. Not to slight Huger, but I don’t feel like his teams ever enjoyed games THAT much.

But my favorite:

Last night, when Dajion Humphrey got dunked on and then he ran back down the floor and there was a stoppage where he was by the bench, the guys were openly smirking at him and he said out loud “I got shitted on” and they all died laughing.

Team chemistry is high. Lol.

That was a talented and focused team that we beat last night. I don't care what their Kenpom rating is.

I did receive it, thanks for the heads up. It was in my promo folder. I already addressed my issues with the man in charge but I will still fill out the survey to ensure my experience hits their data.

I remember listening to one of the Simon podcasts recorded during his prior gig. He made mention something to the effect that they expect to get multiple bench warnings every game. If they don't, they know the energy isn't right and they have consequences in practice for lack of bench enthusiasm.

The eight game winning streak is really good, no matter the competition. Of our 10 wins, I estimate 6 of them were "close" where we had to focus and execute late to keep the lead to more than 2 possessions -or- execute late to close out a 1 possession game. This will only help as we work our way through some tough MAC games and the tourney. I recall that was another thing Simon emphasized in his podcasts - practicing late game scenarios every practice. Maybe they don't spend as much time on starting games? More time on fundamentals, adjustments, closing out games? I kind of agree with that. Whatever it is, I feel good about the direction of the program.

I expect us to knock off some of the traditional MAC powers this season. I may try to get down to Akron this Friday for the 9 pm tip

100% agree. They played well as a team and know their identity. Much better than the Emoni-ball they played last year. They’ll win some games in the MAC this season for sure.

Great post, it really hits on everything well. EMU was clutch as hell last night AND WE STILL WON. That in itself is impressive, especially considering the poor shooting from 3. They did get screwed on that travel late though
